Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

Dark brown, light reddish in color. Taste is sweet, malty, with a complex spicy finish. Very aromatic, with a very smooth and excellent taste profile. Gotta have for any Belgian strong ale fan.

Tap. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is bananas, caramel. Taste is bananas, caramel, sweet, milky, rather simple. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Ok.

0,33 liter bottle. Hard to rate this one as it was served too cold an I normally don't like amber colored beers. But this one was nice.

Bottle. Lots of estery fruit notes, sweet apples, pears, cherries. Light biscuit, subtle phenol. Hints of licorice and earth. Very good.

75 cl bottle @ parents in law. Sweet, amber pour with some nice bitterness. Its not an average trappist, its more fruitier than others.

Hazy ochre/light brown liquid, large head. Weak, sweet aroma. Light body, average carbonation. Taste is sweet.

Bottle at pater marcus. Lightly hazy amber colour lasting beige head. Nose is malty roasted, faint alcohol. Taste is malty, honey, faint roasted notes in the background, light molasses. Smooth mouthfeel fast finish. Not groundbreaking but very well put together.

First: Nice, smooth, sweet, hoppy and malty, caramel trappist ale, very good. Drunk it aged. Brown in colour. Second: There are different vintage productions of this beer. Also with different labels on the other side of the bottle. My father drunk such different bottle. Was sparkling brilliant champagne-like colour ale, like trippel karmeliet even whiter, and what I ve heard from my father "it was unbelievable and remembered forever BEER!" I have such bottles, that are different and the difference is obvious in the label and in the taste, as my father told me. I will try it soon! And maybe will re-rate this! I think it depends on freshness too!

750ml bottle from IGA. Pours a hazy deep golden colour with one finger of white head. Sweet banana aroma with some toffee notes. Taste matches the aroma with a well balanced hoppy finish. Excellent brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
