Named after brother Isidorus, Koningshoeven Abbey’s first brewer. Brewed to mark the occasion of the Trappist brewery’s 125th anniversary in 2009, Isid’or was so well received that it earned itself a permanent place in La Trappe’s line-up. Unfiltered, slightly sweet amber ale with a hint of caramel, which continues to ferment after bottling and has a rich, slightly bitter flavour, and a fruity aftertaste. Wheat & barley malts, Perle hop.

750ml bottle. Served in a trappist glass. Appearance: Transparent golden brown, minimal carbonation, small fine beige head. Aroma: caramel, malt vanilla. Good, but nothing super complex. Palate: thick bodied, fizzy, creamy, slightly oily, slightly dry finish. Taste: Fairly savoury. No bitterness. Not bad, but not as complex as I’d hoped for.

Pours a murky rust colour, an inch of foam to start, shrinks fairly quickly. Smells of caramel malt, dried fruit, cloves, brown or candi sugar; I can't make up my mind. Fruity taste, spice of cloves, brown sugar, malty but light sweetness. Light bitterness. Medium body with prickly carbonation. Nice beer.

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy amber color with large white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, bread, yeast, spices. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, dried fruits, some nuts, malt, raisins. Medium body, average carbonation, nice light sweet aftertaste. Overall a very good Belgian beer.

ciocanelu (2938) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - OCT 3, 2017
Hazy dark amber color with beige head. Aroma Belgian sugar and yeast esters with fruity bubblegum notes. Taste follows with fruity yeast and bubblegum, candi sugar, on the sweet side overall but not cloying.

Algo seca. Postgusto a fruta madura, pan y fruto seco.

Pours hazy amber with a lasting, foamy, off-white head that leaves some lacing. The aroma contains caramel, bread, yeast, nuts, hops, spices, vague hint of banana. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and medium spicy bitter, with the sweetness remaining in the background during the hoppy, yeasty and slightly dry finish. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. A very decent Trappist.

ODCZUCIE: ciało średnie ku wysokiemu, średnio nasycone, delikatnie musuje na języku, bardzo lekkie, dość gładkie, lekko krągłe;
SMAK: drewno, brzoskwinia, alkohol, gorzki karmel, pomarańcza, średnia bardzo długa drewniano-karmelowa goryczka;
OGÓLNIE: bardzo smaczne piwo; jest bogate i konkretne, ale świetnie zbalansowane.
