No head. Aroma is slightly dry and oxidized, burnt sugar, oak, alcohol, raisins, caramel malts, almonds, bark, yeast, candied sugar, grain. Taste is slightly dry, oak, grass, candied sugar, raisins, burnt sugar, alcohol, citrus, bark, weeds. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and watery mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Clear, dark brownish amber with some white bubbles on top. Sweetish-malty, minimally fruity aroma of caramel, vanilla, honey and some raisins. Moderately sweet, malty taste of caramel, vanilla, some honey, hints of raisins and some oak, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, moderately warming-alcoholic finish. Bottle thx to jerohen, small sample. Hazy copper color, short frothy head. Loads of red wine, oak wood and raisin in aroma. Bit sweet in taste, raisiny, oak wood, red wine. Base beer is quite overwhelmed and the couple years of aging didnt make it any better. Best was to blend with a bit of fresh Quad, to give it more balance in the barrel and still get the spicy notes of a fresher Quad. Cork and cage bottle shared at Leighton’s - thanks to Scopey for this one. Batch 11. Opaque brown, still, small ring of tan head, dotted lacing. Aroma is raisin, teacake, bready. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation, a little oily. Taste is tired creamy malts, raisin, sweet stewed fruits, wood and booze. Not bad. I don’t see it improving with any more age.
