COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Batch 11 Malbec barrels were used, though a rather large portion of Quadrupel aged on new wood has been added too. This batch is quite complex. The aroma of the Malbec is very noticable, lots of oak flavours from medium toast, and vanilla and almond from high toast barrels, floral aromas from Acasia and obviously the beer aromas from the quadrupel. Very robust and rich in tannins, which warrants a bit of extra maturation in the bottle to let the complexity increase and the flavour become rounder. While the red wine influence is noticable, the wood has the dominant note. A must for everyone who likes heavy beer and/or wine with lots of wood flavour and aroma. 55% Used Malbec barrels 20% New French oak, medium toast 20% New French oak, high toast 5% Acacia wood

Zlotta (3198) - Hagen / Bonn, GERMANY - DEC 10, 2016
Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Clear, dark brownish amber with some white bubbles on top. Sweetish-malty, minimally fruity aroma of caramel, vanilla, honey and some raisins. Moderately sweet, malty taste of caramel, vanilla, some honey, hints of raisins and some oak, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, moderately warming-alcoholic finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!

Süßlich karamelliger Beginn, geringe Karbonisierung. Geringe Bitterkeit, mild würzig-karamellig, die Süße ist weiterhin präsent. Nett. 10/9/9/9/9/9

caesar (7099) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 23, 2016
Bottle thx to jerohen, small sample. Hazy copper color, short frothy head. Loads of red wine, oak wood and raisin in aroma. Bit sweet in taste, raisiny, oak wood, red wine. Base beer is quite overwhelmed and the couple years of aging didnt make it any better. Best was to blend with a bit of fresh Quad, to give it more balance in the barrel and still get the spicy notes of a fresher Quad.

Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 4, 2016
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: No head. Hazy dark amber body. Nise of prunes, nuts, caramel, some malts, The flavour is again marked by a prune dominance. Some malts and bitters with light sweet tints... Low to no carbo, light watery mouthfeel, medium bodied. Easy drinker but don’t get any barrel aging!

Cork and cage bottle shared at Leighton’s - thanks to Scopey for this one. Batch 11. Opaque brown, still, small ring of tan head, dotted lacing. Aroma is raisin, teacake, bready. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation, a little oily. Taste is tired creamy malts, raisin, sweet stewed fruits, wood and booze. Not bad. I don’t see it improving with any more age.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Scopey. Pours lightly hazy a amber with no head. The nose has some ripe and lightly tangy fruits, berries, grapes, toffee. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with hints of peat, lots of caramel, toffee, dates, dried berries, rich bread. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with soft carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, with touches of woody dryness, faint earth, lots more dried fruits, pear, toffee. Very tasty beer.
