Faathoven (62) - Barcellona P.G., ITALY - JAN 6, 2017
Pours amber, slight hazy with whitish head. Bunch of dark fruits in the aroma, dates, raisins, plums, figs, plus red wine, soaked oak, belgian yeast characteristics from the fruity esters and kinda mead notes. Very complex flavour that is just the same of the nose. In the back end I got some tannins bitterness which balances nicely, and a slightly dry finish asking for another sip. Smooth, medium to full body and almost an oily texture mouthfeel. This is huge!

Moderately sweet, malty taste of caramel, honey, lots of vanilla and some raisins, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, moderately warming finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty, incredibly round.

37.5cl Bottle, tfs Julien! Hazy purple-ish amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of candy, wood, sweet malts, hint of port, fruits. Flavour is quite sweet, typical La Trappe (and Jopen) candy, port, yeast, fruits, amber malts, some wood, alcohol, bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Later batches are better. Nice to have tried this though.
