Hazy deep amber brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light and smooth, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth soft malts, light creamy sweetness. Very smooth and pleasing cognac brandy. Light fruity citric peel underneath. Trace of vanilla. Smooth light finish. Comes together extremely well, light and easy drinking but plenty of barrel character. La Trappe OA continues to fascinate.
Bottle at home, 29th July 17. Pours dark Amber. Aroma is rich fruit, caramel, barrel and booze. Taste is complex, sweet, very smooth, easy drinking, I get the cognac and I’m for sure, woody notes. I served this slightly too cold, probably, and the beer improved as it warmed. Excellent, but I have had better in the series. Gerbeer (4302) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 22, 2017
375 ml bottle. Cork went flying... Pours a red mahogany with moderate persistent head. Aromas of mild oak, sweet malts, toffee and sugary raisins. Flavors follow same, mild oakiness and slightly sweet but perfectly balanced. Warm finish. A sipping beer on par with a big brandy or drambuie. Presented perfectly at the Kulminator. Extra point! tderoeck (11110) - Gent, BELGIUM - FEB 17, 2017

Bottle in a hotel room in Utrecht.
Hazy orange coloured with a small off-white head.
Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and dried fruits with notes of oak, marzipan and alcohol.
Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits and alcohol.
Sweet and warming alcoholic finish. Jimbo2 (566) - DENMARK - OCT 12, 2016
Overrated in my view and one of the less succesful cases of oak ageing. Overwhelming booze. Next to no carbonation. Still nice, though.
