BATCH 26 (blended in November 2016) was distributed as follows: Dry white wine (Pouily Fumé & Sancerre) 78% New Oak Medium Toast 22% The aroma of Batch 26 is refreshing, floral and slight acidy (that comes from the white wine barrels). The characteristic aroma of vanilla and smoked oak is associated with cognac and in the background, a touch of malt and caramel scent. The taste can be describes as explosive in which the wood tannins dominate. The full-bodied taste of this batch pushed the La Trappe Quadrupel to the background, yet it is definitely present. In addition, you taste the dominant flavours of honey, sweet caramel and fine oak. The stimulating mouthfeel comes from the carbonation. Wood tannins also play a major role. In short, a batch with a full-bodied taste. A suitable autumn beer that still gives us a feel of summer due to its lovely scent associations.

Big fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry fruity, oak, raisins, fruit stones, hay, minerals, alcohol, candi sugar, grass, banana, hints of almond essence. Taste is slightly sweet mineraly, caramel malts, minerals, raisins, grass, fruit stones, alcohol, oak, candi sugar, butterscotch, nuts. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Clear medium orange amber colour with a small average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dried fruit, grapes, wine, wood, oak, vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, oak, wood, grapes, wine, sweet malt, dried fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20170929]

Presentation of beer to be sold at the Norwegian Vinmonopolet. 20.sep. 2017. Deep red to brown color. Low beige head. Intense aroma of dried red fruit, plums, chocolate, cognac and vanilla. Port wine, tannins from wood, caramel, spicy yeast in tast. Very smooth. Nice bitter aftertouch.

Bottle @ home. Amber to brown with a small offwhite head. Smells sweet, nutty, malts. Tastes lovely, sweet, hops, barleywine, oak, not alcoholic at all. Smooth as silk. Great beer. Love it. Full body, nice carbo.

Piana średnio obfita, nieco mydlana. Barwa jasno miedziana, z pływającymi drobinkami. W zapachu na pierwszym planie nuty beczkowe - wanilia, migdał, parkiet, białe wino, winogrona, w tle figi, syrop klonowy, zioła. Smak dość słodki, rodzynkowo waniliowo pikantny z nutą białego wina, po ogrzaniu dochodzą kandyzowane owoce, karmel, miód. Nieduża, przyprawowo pestkowa goryczka, lekka cierpkość i taniczność, ładnie ułożony alkohol (lekko rozgrzewający). W odbiorze nieco wyklejające, pełne, treściwe, oleiste i jednocześnie wysoko wysycone, lekko musujące.
Już wersja podstawowa bardzo mi pasowała, tu zaś doznania są jeszcze intensywniejsze i szlachetniejsze, wzbogacone o przyjemne nuty barrel agingu.

Tap at Arendsnest. Oak bomb. Really cool beer. Cuts through the Quad aspect a lot. Filtered, really almost thin somehow. Really great example of oak ageing. Super clean for the ABV.
