Light brown with a small off White head. Aroma of Wood, vanilla, grapes, and the whitewhine barrel notes makes perfect sence, they are there along with the rest. Heavy toffee flavor, alchohol, lots of vinouse notes, again vanilla. Desert like finish with the previous notes lingering. Great Zita (6325) - Assentoft, DENMARK - APR 4, 2012

In short: A big uber-sweet sticky amber beer. Meharmando629 (2456) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 22, 2012
How: Tap at ’t Arendsnest, Amsterdam
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by very small beige head
In long: Nose is sweetened baked fruits, some wood and booze. Taste is just so uber-sweet that I almost didn’t finish my small glass. Plenty of sugars, candied apples, butterscotch hard-candies, more brown sugar, lots of vanilla, rich caramel, sweet dark fruits, alcohol. No hops presence whatsoever. Mouthfeel was sticky-sweet and with a medium carbonation. I was never a big fan of the regular La Trappe Quad and this barrel aged version is a step down from a beer I don’t really like to start with. Just too sweet for me. And of course the beer has high ratings because it is a big beer. I could conclude this rating by asking if ratebeer’s notation system favors bigger more intense beers over the more subtle elegant session beers. But I am not one to end a rating with a rhetorical question. Or am I?

Deep mahagony colored one with a small pffwhite head. Moderated aroma that opens whn the beer gets warmer. Green apples, tuttifrutti and a lot of fruits like fig and raisins, and some oak. Complex flavor, fruits again(green apples, raisins and tropical fruits), tarty character of thge oaks, bubblegum again because of the high abv. Delicious.
Bottle at DSG 2011. Brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, yeast. Flavour is oak, vanilla, sugar, yeast, caramel, wine, dried fruits. Very nice beer.
