UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 375 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a thin ivory head, with hints of lacing, over a hazy, particle laden, dark amber brown (SRM 18) body.....nose is raisin, plum, brown sugar....taste is plum, raisin, vinous tones, hints of honey, vanilla, moderate sweetness throughout, finishing with light clove, allspice tones, with a bit of spice bitterness......mouth feel light, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low. This is a very rich, complex, sweet beer. The white wine barrels added a light wood, but heavy vinous sweetness to the final result. White wine barrels seem to add a dessert quality to a beer. While it meets the style quite well, the sweet qualia are quite dominant, and the particle laden body detracts from the overall experience. Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a nice large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light dry fruits and residual sugar with some wood notes. Taste is also dominated by some wood notes with light residual sugar notes and dry raisins. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting experiment but I believe the regular version is probably better then this barrel-aged version and the white wine notes where quite hard to distinguish. arone12 (932) - Maryland, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Appears to be the color of poop. Smells like oak and chestnut. And some alcohol. Taste is okay. Kinda dry. scottw86 (1178) - Maryland, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Poured a hazy red with sediment. Grape and wood in the aroma with candi sugar. Lots of oak with cherries and fruit. Decent flavors with a little complexity. Not bad! Koelschtrinker (21318) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - DEC 11, 2012
12/13/12/12/12/12

Cork and caged 37.5cl bottle: Given to me (like 6 other Batches), as a gift by Rudi from De Bierboom in Brugge, thanks Rudi.
Poured into a Westmalle chalice and a Palm bulb for the sediment on 31 Oct 2012.
Dark brown with red leanings, the head a thin wisp from the start, clear and clean, the Palm glass holding a murkier duller brew.
The aroma and taste are fantastic: Port, liquorice, red berries, slightly sour, yet full in your face flavours to counter-act the sourness (chocolate malts mostly). Rich, warming and very, very nice.
This is one very drinkable brew: I like! ogreface (1390) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 27, 2012
Hasonlít a másik testvérére, de ennek például van egy vékony habja is és kissé szebb a színe. Illatában itt jobban érezni a hordós érlelést, ráadásul édeskésebb és marcipános. Ízében is ott a marcipán, bourbon whisky, aszalt gyümik, zöld alma.

Bottle 375ml. corked.
[ Courtesy of Countbeer / The Dutch RB Crew ]. Light unclear medium to dark red amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, wood, light alcohol - wine - grape. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, wood - oak. Quit balanced and nice. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
Bottle. Pours copper brown with lingering off white head. Nose and taste of raisin, vinous notes, dark fruit, dates, vanilla and oak. Medium body. Finishes with raisin/vinous notes. Creamy mouth feel. Nice beer. Countbeer (6591) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 7, 2012
Medium creamy head, changes slowly into a thick lacing on top of an amber brown colored beer.
Smell raisin, wood, earth, oak, dust, light grapes, vinous. Nice aroma’s.
The flavours are also very nice: nice wood, bourbon, red & dark fruits, some sweets (but balanced and nothing too sweet), light dry, grapes and cream. Very good Barrel aged quadruppel.
Aftertaste is damn tasty too: dry wood, oak, bourbon-ish, vanilla.
Low to medium carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, medium to full body and a creamy texture.
Very good thing is that the alcohol is very well hidden. Lovely beer!
