Aniela (4216) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 11, 2013
Bottle at Kulminator, Antwerp. Deep amber beer with a small white head. Woody, dark dried fruits, malty aroma. Wounderful sweetness, and malty fruity flavour. I truley love this kind of beer :-)

Bottled. Uhm, underwhelming honestly. It seemed really timid and a touch thin. Even the base quad seemed very mellow. Okay but I had higher hopes.

Batch 6, 375mL cork&cage bottle, split 4 ways. This poured a clear, slick amber color. No sediment poured out of this bottle. Minimal to no head. The beer was thin, alcoholic, and woody. Not extensively thin or boozy but not much of anything else. Not sweet, which was good but as usual the disappointing La Trappe Quad that sat in a barrel, which did not make the beer any better. Very forgettable if it wasn’t for the $16 price tag.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 375 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a thin ivory head, with hints of lacing, over a hazy, particle laden, dark amber brown (SRM 18) body.....nose is raisin, plum, brown sugar....taste is plum, raisin, vinous tones, hints of honey, vanilla, moderate sweetness throughout, finishing with light clove, allspice tones, with a bit of spice bitterness......mouth feel light, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low. This is a very rich, complex, sweet beer. The white wine barrels added a light wood, but heavy vinous sweetness to the final result. White wine barrels seem to add a dessert quality to a beer. While it meets the style quite well, the sweet qualia are quite dominant, and the particle laden body detracts from the overall experience. BJCP 8/2/15/4/7

Taste this bottle, 37,5 cl with Vic and William, 21.07.2011 @ proeflokaal La Trappe. Dark brown color with a little beige head. Great aroma grapes, raisins, dry dark fruits, malts and oak. Medium to full body. Taste like wine, is also great: dark dry fruits, malts with sweet touch and tannins little sourness. Dry aftertaste. Very Good !
