(375ml bottle from Papago). Pours a hazy, cloudy dark amber/garnet color with tan head. Aroma has caramel, vinous notes and wood. Taste is sweet with more ripe grapes and syrup. Full bodied with a slick texture and wine-line finish with a touch of alcohol. Really nice. zathrus13 (1776) - Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA - DEC 6, 2011
Bottle, thanks Dave. Pours cloudy brown, with a fairly large tan head. Aroma is malt, wine, oak, fruit, and vanilla. Flavor is malt, fruit, wine, vanilla, and brown sugar. Body is medium to heavy. NikkTwist (3218) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 14, 2013
Bottle at Monks. Darker and smoother than the regular quad. Heady aroma as well. When first poured looked surprisingly clear though there ended up being a fair amount of sediment in the second half of the bottle. Dark caramel raisins. Very rich but a barrel aged ruby added to the normal vanilla malt bomb. This version is more refined. stouby (4666) - Holbæk, DENMARK - APR 16, 2014
Bottle at Carsten. Clear reddish with some sediments. Aroma heavy malty (dark fruit, woody, vanilla), light acidic. Flavor medium to heavy sweet, fruity, acidic, barrel). Full body, soft and smooth, fantastic.

Tastes side by side with batch 2 and 3. Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass brown-orange. Small head. Sweet-malty aroma. Starts mild, sweet, but not as intense as batch 2. Fine fruity hints of apricot. Finish with woody notes, modest sweet, hints of vanilla. Well balanced and drinkable. Liked it better than batch 2 and 3. Small dirty-cream head over clear copper-amber beer. Superb nose as from old, sweet wine, very vinous, vanilla. Sweet, brandy, vanilla, vanillabeans, coffeemilk, alcohol-preserved fruit, winecasks. Very complex, yet balanced flavourprofile. Better carbonated than most such ales, slick, alcoholwarming. Spectacular nose. Beer, however, is more sweet than suspected. jcweaver (768) - VA Beach, Virginia, USA - OCT 18, 2011
Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a off-white head. Aromas of brandy, vanilla, dark fruit and wine barrels. Flavor similar with hints of oak/wood coming through in the finish. A little too sweet and lacks some bitterness but a very smooth, warming beer.
