Batch 9 is the first batch in which use is made of Malbecwijnvaten from Cahors. This Quad is characterized by very high tannin from the Pinot Noir grape which the darkest, most tannic wine grape. Because this grape is very sensitive, however they have little more grown but has its own character. Our quadruple this wine casks to mature taste associations come from this wine in the back bearing beer. Because the bearings from the beer barrels already so rich in flavor, we have for this batch is the percentage of new oak reduced to 14%. This makes the wood flavor and aromas coming from wood but is slightly less beautiful bouquet of the wine Malbecwijn all the better.

I rated this well after tasting it. It was good and had strong oak notes. Sorry these notes were just for myself now I'm forced to publish them and need more characters to do so, hence this sentence ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Note: after hoarding the oldest of these beers for over 5 years, I decided to crack down on them, before they disintegrate.

Clear red brown beer, no head. Aroma: bit malty, sweet, caramel, bit of vanilla, banana, alcohol. MF: soft to no carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sourish start, some tannins, alcohol, sour apples, sugary, pears, fruity. Aftertaste: little bitter, sourish, alcohol, some tannins, red wine notes, sweet and sugary, bit cloying, banana.

Bottle, large sample. Hazy copper color, just some lacing. Aroma is a bit spicy, caramel, raisin, lots of red wine, oak wood. Bit sweet in taste, tannine bitterness, loads of red wine. Red wine blends quite nicely with the La Trappe Quad, and even is a bit dominant. Tasty.

I drank this beer right after the notorious Westvleteren 12. I must say I loved the La Trappe more.

Looks: Cloudy, copper/brownish colored, flat beer. Aroma: Interesting combination of flavours. Delicious, but hard to discribe. It’s taste was wineous with first the Malbec grapes, fallowed by a hint of oak and the original quad taste. All very subtile, but all in the degree of compliment to each other. In short phrases: Wine, oak, caramel, plum, raisin, milky, vanilla.

12.7 oz. bottle from Party Source at home from notes. Pours a hazy deep copper color with a thin creamy off white film. The nose has big ripe fruits, raisins, fig, caramel, brown sugar, oak tannins and a touch of the alcohol. The flavor is more fruits, raisins, fig, caramel, oak, more tannins and alcohol. The alcohol is warming, but nothing really pops as this is very flat.
