COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Quadrupel is La Trappe’s heaviest ale with a stunning amber colour. Its warm and intense flavour is rich and finely balanced. Malty sweet, slightly burnt, and pleasantly bitter with a sweet aftertaste. Quadrupel continues to ferment after bottling and offers aromas of banana, almond, vanilla and others.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2008 This was my first bottle in 10 years. It was as I remember. I had the 750ML corked version. The pour: deep caramel color with a head with large bubbles. (This usually is a result of bottle conditioning.) The bouquet: heavy "Trappist" yeast smell. Very fruity- dates, figs, raisins. The palate: intense, malty, sweet- you can definitely tell this ale is fermented with Belgian candy sugar. The finish: definite alcohol "bite" at the back of the tongue. Aftertaste: nutty, toffeeish. Very good Quad... not the world’s very best, but it’s up there.

Knap werk.

Bottle at Delfzijl, Netherlands. Served in a trappist glas. Pours amber with large, white and creamy head. Aroma is roasted, spices and fruity. Great mouthfeel, both malty and sweet. Notes of alcohol in the finish but far from disturbing. Somewhat sweet aftertaste. It doesnt come much better than this. My first trappist beer and before tasting it I wondered what the fuzz is all about. Now I can conclude. It is a top notch beer!

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2017 Piwo bursztynowe, klarowne z dość ładna piana, która dość szybko opada. W aromacie masa suszonych owoców, rodzynki, śliwki, brzoskwinie. Dużo słodyczy. Lekko czuc slody i nuty pochodzące od drożdży. W smaku także dużo suszonych i kandyzowanych a także świeżych owoców. Wysycenie wysokie. Piwo pełne. Lekko rozgrzewa w przełyk. Są także nuty przyprawowe. Bardzo fajny quadrupel.

Reviewing bottle just around spoilage date 10/2018. Almost 3 years from bottling, Beer perfectly kept, not spoiled. Nose huge blast of fresh juice making, smell of apricots, nectarines, oranges and alcohol. Big full body and smooth slightly oily mouth feel. Profound strong brandied fruit flavors than orange zest, overripe apricots and overripe banana. Much more savory than fresh batches but keeps medium sweetness and not a hint of sourness has developed. I can’t find any strong hop aromas and bitterness is also gone in the wind. Least to say it’s extremely drinkable for viscous strong ale. Amazing fresh and even better aged... it a great dessert. My personal favorite.

What is not to love about this quad? It really just has everything you’d expect from a good belgian ale; spice, banana, bitterness, dried fruits, burnt sugar sweetness. Mouthfeel is excellent, slightly sticky but not overly so. I could do an indepth review of every nuance, but this is one beer when I don’t want to go to deep, and simply enjoy it and experience it.

Bottle from Smak Piwa. Beer served in Goblet Glass. Pours dark ruby with small head. Aroma is plummy, cherries, grapes, marmalade, sugary. Taste is red and dark fruits, caramel, malty, after warming up alcohol is a little bit milder but still noticable. Could be better balanced maybe after some longer storage.

From tap at the Monk. Pours beautiful clear amber brown with a fluffy off white head. Aromas of malt, spice, banana, burnt sugar. Deliciously full bodied with deep malty, yeasty, funky flavors, rasins, dates, banana. Soft carbonation, lingering finish with pleasant alcohol warmth. Outstanding.

Per ser una cervesa quadruple l´he trobat poc contundent, amb poc recorregut i gens complexa. No es una mala cervesa però si que està a molta distància de les gransc cerveses quadruples
