VDuquerroux (1770) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - OCT 11, 2015
Bottle, 33cL. Traded with @erickok (#15). Merci Eric encore une fois !! Home. A sparkling black beer with a medium creamy oily beige head ; good retention. Smoke, roast, toast, herbs. Light sweet, medium bitter, light dry refreshing ; light warming. Medium body, average oily texture, average carbonation, bitter smoky lasting finish. Overall, beautiful, delicious smoky toasty aroma, good herbal bitterness.

Bottle from erickok, thanks! Almost black, opague. Strong peat aroma. Salt, licorice. Salty licoric flavor with peat and ash. Strong citric, tart notes. Thinnish. Interesting, tasty beer, but by no means perfect.

Quack-Duck (9487) - Down South, GERMANY - DEC 31, 2014
bottle from Hyperboissons Dijon. Deep black with a fluffy and persistent brown head. Aroma of peat and smoke. Full-bodied, malty with lots of dark, roasted malts, coffee, some bitter chocolate and earthy, smoky flavours. Piney hops tune in, almost with fresh feeling touch of mint. Very good.

Benzai (16202) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - DEC 4, 2014
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Thompson. Dark brown to black color, full sized lightly creamy light brown head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is strong, extremely dominant peat and "fingerpaint". Way too much for me. Damn, insane peat. Taste malts, again strong peat and fingerpaint, although somehow they’ve made it quite soft taste-wise, and remarkably drinkable. Smooth texture, decent body, soft carbonation. A big surprise and I must say, this imo is quite an achievement by this brewer.

Couleur presque noire, mousse assez sombre.

I only drank one thing more smoky, more burnt, more peated and more aggressive than this beer, it was scottish flood in Skye island.

CH-303 (2291) - Fribourg, SWITZERLAND - SEP 8, 2014
Appearance: Near black. Tan head, but not much.
Aroma: Dark malt, lots of smoke.
Taste: Lots and lots of smoke, tar, dark malt. Burnt. Wow!
Bought: Fribourg Beer Festival, 330 ml draught, CHF 4.00
Info: 6/9-2014

Bottle from Chez Alain Cave a Bieres, Rennes, Brittany, France. Inky black with a thin tan head. It has an extremely powerful leather, oak and chocolate flavour, charcoal notes and a burnt roasted coffee on the finish. This beer tastes far stronger than its ABV.
