A pale blonde ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a rather sweet cloying cotton candy malt with rosewater. In mouth, a nice smooth candy malt with perfume, rose, citrus, hops, decent. On tap at Hivernale, Feb. 23 2013. lesifflebiere (1887) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 24, 2013
Quevillon (3089) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 24, 2013
Beer #3 at the 2013 Winter Warmer Montreal, on February 23, 2013. Pinkish yellow, good head. Floral hop aroma of grapefruit, a little dry. The taste is the same, but not extremely flavourful, slightly bitter. Very, very weak in all senses! MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
My Bottom Line:
Citrusy hops, doughy yeast and honeyed cereals whip up a pleasant IPA fermented with Belgian-style yeast.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the misty honeyed gold.
-The mouthfeel is slick, oily. Fine bubbles could have been more expansive to give a higher impression of dryness.
-The spicy, zesty aroma is also green pepper-like.
-The fruitiness is akin to oranges and grapefruit pith.
-Ultimately, I was a bit disappointed by a hoppiness which was not nearly as potent as advertised. Otherwise, this brew is as well-made as all Voie Maltée Belgian-style numbers.
On tap at Hivernale des Brasseurs.
