Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L08001. AROMA: strong alcohol aroma with a vinous character. Some faint esters (dried grapes) and faint Maillard compounds. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with a ruby body gainst light and clear. very thin light-brown head with no retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma, with-high alcohol presence, some dried grapes and a faint malty background with toasted bread crust notes. low bitterness with balance towards a malty / vinous, dry finish. PALATE: low carbonation with medium-low body. slight acidic sensation on the tongue. warmth sensation present but smooth. OVERALL: a belgian dark strong ale with a strong vinous character and less malt/fermentation by products presence. needs improvement on the carbonation front.
