Hazed mahogany to chestnut brown with a decent beige cap that dissipates to edgeing.
Nose is caramel malt, mellow dark fruit shreds, earthy hop, sweet toffee.

Solid first beer that I have tried from these guys, well rounded and balanced, not too sweet, drinks below the ABV.

My goodness, a brilliant barley wine aroma - rich and malty, nice woodiness too, but more sweet than woody. Very full palate, soft carbonation. Beautifully sweet malty body, some herbal aspects, even some mint. A beautiful barleywine, a lovely sipper. Absolutely nails the style. Finish has soft bitter hops, and some berries. First beer of the festival - always good to start on a 11.4% beer - but the beer I returned to at the end too, it was so delicious. Bought a bottle too - lets see if it can stand up to 5 years of ageing as a barley wine like this should.
Man, I’d have loved to have had this as #10000 rather than #9999, but alas it couldn’t be arranged - it was nice to know you were thinking of me as you were brewing it though - cheers, Edgars, a great brewer and a great guy generally!
