On tap at LaConner, pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Nose brings out toasted caramel and toasted bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted caramel, bready malt and butterscotch. Pretty nice dynamics to this - slightly more interesting than the average brown ale. Solid.

Draught at the brewpub, 6% ABV
Cloudy dark amber color. The aroma is lightly dusty; the mouthfeel is slightly less dry than the other beers here; malt and caramel flavor, a bit roasty, lightly ashy, with correct bitterness.
Nice beer.

Tap at the brewery 11/29/13

Dark pour, heavy caramel and cocoa and spices, fairly sweet. This comes off as a winter warmer, not as a (British) brown ale -- I had to take a sip of my father’s Tannenbaum ale to be sure that this wasn’t a mistake. Not a mistake, the Tannenbaum is a different and somewhat hoppier combination of heavy caramel and spices. I would have called this at 7.5 ABV, not 5.2. Decent but oh so sweet.

This was a draft pour at the brewpub. Came a brown color with a small off-white head and moderate lacing. Nose of roasted malts. Medium body and smooth creamy moutthfeel Flavor is roasted caramel malts with nuts. Light bitter fihish. Very easy drinking and tasty. Nice beer.

Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - APR 18, 2011
Rich and tasty brown ale, but far too sweet for me. This was like a dessert beer (it was hard for me to even finish the taster). The beer is loaded with sticky-sweet caramel, and it has lesser notes of bread, toffee and brown sugar. Worty. Mild bitterness (not nearly enough to counteract all that sweetness). Some pleasant spicy notes in the background. Overall, it’s a tasty beer, but it’s just too sweet and unbalanced.

Was expecting more. Not as heavy as I would have liked for a brown. Blahhhh
