3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Well balanced with nice, but not overwhelming, rye bread taste. Very pale head and a bit cloudy ....drinking it at the brew pub in Agoura ...very nice beer to drink outside in the transition when the hot day cools rapidly in the hills near sunset
(Draught) Pours a clear orange body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, rye, grass, and nuts. Flavor of caramel, rye, pine, and grain with a dry, moderately bitter finish. brokensail (16670) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 19, 2011
A: The beer pours amber in color with a thin layer of khaki colored foam. SamGamgee (2585) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - AUG 14, 2011
S: A decent citrus aroma to this one. Nice orange and tangerine notes up front with a touch of grass and some floral notes. Some sweet malt and toffee, maybe some toasted malts. A rather faint aroma of rye, though.
T: The flavor just kind of dies. There is a bit of citrus hop flavor, mostly sweet tangerine and orange. Sort of watery, but there is a bit of bread, toasted malt, and toffee. Like the nose, not too much rye. Minimal bitterness on the back end.
M: Medium bodied, but sort of a watery perception, if that makes sense. Medium carbonation.
O: The nose gave me hope, but the flavor was just not all that good.
Draught. At the brewery. Dark amber color. Pine, citrus, and pineapple hop aroma. Nice bready rye as well. Dry and hoppy with a big bready and earthy malt character. Nice hoppy rye with good malt character but not too much sweetness. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - AUG 23, 2010
I had this on tap at Blue Palms 2nd Anniversary party. I thought that this was an interesting beer. The notes of rye and hops make it nicely complex, but I could see sitting around and having a few.

On tap and Cask. Rating from tap (a bit hoppier on tap, a bit bready/maltier on cask). Pours with a clear amber body and a lasting off-white head. Aroma is hoppy, pine, citrus, rye. Taste is pine, citrus, grainy and rye. Dry and well balance. Good beer to drink that cannot be pushed in to any classic style (not hoppy enough to be a rye-arrogant bastard, and not malty enough to be anything specific). Dry residuals, medium carbonation.
