3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On cask at BAM Fest. Pours with a hazed golden hue with a foamy white head. Aromas are of anise, clean, light vanillin, grainy, bready, medium ester and spicy phenols.Flavors are anise, oak like, spicy, fruity, rounded vanilla and licorice. Warming alcohol, grainy, bready. Low carbonation.
I was expecting this to be really bad. Not much of a black licorice fan. But this worked for me. I know it was a Halloween gimmick but both the tripel and the licorice worked well and brought out the highlights of each flavor. Light and bubbly too. brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 9, 2012
Clear golden pour with a white head. There’s not really much licorice to it. Mostly just sweet bread, a bit of toast, some licorice in the background, and a light herbal note. The flavor is a bit watery. Sweet bread dominates the flavor, mild yeast, spice, and herbal notes. Just a very faint licorice note in the background.
