(Draught at Big Beers, Belgians and Barley Wines 2013 festival) near black, wispy offwhite bubbles. Nose of oak, light funk, honey, American bittering hops, cranberry and pine is buried in the background. Taste is kind of a mess, medicinal cherry, tannic earthy berry, tree bark, estery and woody. On tap at Beachwood as a "Dark Sour". This one does have some infection going on, but I don’t think that was Dave’s intent (at least according to Ladyface’s press around this beer). Pours with a hazy brown body and a tan head. Aromas are earthy cocoa nubs, vinous, damp leaves, chocolate and acetic acid. Flavors are very earthy, dusty, nutty, barrel. Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Nose is tart up front with a lot of green apple, lemon, and red wine. Charred oak, mild chocolate, coffee, and lots of roasted malt. Slight caramel sweetness. The flavor is kind of chalky and astringent. Green apples, roasted malt, coffee, and lemon peel. Lots of wood flavor, a fair amount of char, some chocolate/cocoa powder, wine, and mild vinegar.
