On tap at the brewpub. Interesting light toasted oatmeal and grass cookie. Amino and omega acids. Dense. Pours a surprisingly pale ruby-brown, fairly dark, but no oatmeal stout. Thick tan cream up top. Flavor is oily and has that good, toothy oatmeal flavor, but not really the density to hold it up. Roast character melds in well, but doesn’t stand up amongst the light bodied. A bit of yeast. Not the best density, but a very decent flavor profile. Maybe more of an oatmeal porter than an oatmeal stout. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - SEP 1, 2008
on tap-pours a light brown head that laces and black color. Aroma is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty, lactose. Taste is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty/anise, lactose, slightly acidic hops. OK/mild carbonation. Nice. Block (2727) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - AUG 8, 2008
Sampled at the restaurant. Really nice dark black color with almost no head (most likely because I had the sampler and they were poured early). Light aroma with stronger coffee and roasted malt flavor. MI2CA (1340) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - MAY 27, 2008
Sampled at HotShotz Indy tasting May 24, 2008 - Aroma is dark malts, oats, grease and chocolate. Pours light black with a small head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma and is pretty mellow. This may be due to it’s place in the tasting. Palate is creamy and smooth. Not bad and will probably rate higher when I get it on it’s own. SpudClampDawg (1029) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - MAY 4, 2008
12 oz bottle: Deep black core with tan highlights and a thick brown head. Notes were light but present, mostly nuts and caramel. The body was even and balanced with chocolate, nuts, caramel and coffee. The oatiness was missing though. A well done brew that didn’t extend itself in any direction to warrant a second look. Solid but expected.

Clean aroma, slight toasted malt on the nose. Very dark, with very very thin head. More bitterness than expected, lacked the smoothness/silkiness that I’d expect with this style. Perhaps reducing some of the darker grains and adding more oat (malt) could balance this more. Generally bitter throughout with some dark chocolate in the finish.
Overall it is a middle of the road oatmeal stout. .
