Pours black with a fine, tan head. Aroma is largely coffee and chocolate. Flavor is largely coffee and roasted aroma. Mouth feel is moderate. Very good.

Bottle from VBS. Pours Pours opaque black with slight brown edge and minimal quickly disappearing light tan head. Nose is dark malt, coffee, some chocolate and a little red meat. Flavor is well watered down nose, most of the nose has disappeared, what’s mainly left is black coffee and dark malt/chocolate. Much thinner and more watery than I was expecting and hoping. Still very decent sipper, smooth and easy on the palate. A slight sweet side and very faint hop background. The thinness is just too distracting IMHO.

mmmm...the perfect end to my meal at the brewpub. first sip revealed a definate chocolate and coffee taste. almost like capuccino. smooth and silky for sure. not too sweet like some sweet stouts though. just the right balance. later, i also noted some molases and a bit of an anise taste as well.

Aroma is oats, chocolate, caramel. Appearance is jet black, with 1 finger head. Looks delicious. Taste is chocolate, caramel, slight oats, however too hoppy. Palate is carbonated and finish is too bitter. Too hoppy for this style. Kind of disappointed ...

Clean aroma, slight toasted malt on the nose. Very dark, with very very thin head. More bitterness than expected, lacked the smoothness/silkiness that I’d expect with this style. Perhaps reducing some of the darker grains and adding more oat (malt) could balance this more. Generally bitter throughout with some dark chocolate in the finish. Overall it is a middle of the road oatmeal stout. .

Nice stout with plenty of chocolate, caramel, and nutty notes. Enjoyable stout with an oatmeal equalizer.
