3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly cloudy copper-orange with two fingers of coarse white head. Settles to pillowy cap with lots of stringy lacing. Aroma is hoppy, bitter, citrus, spicy, floral. Flavor is moderately hoppy up front fading into resinous, citrus, piney, and nutty tones. Belgian yeast compliments the fruitiness of the hops. Finishes mildly bitter and nutty. Alcohol is very well masked. Soft carbonation, medium-light body, and smooth, oily texture. A strong but fairly drinkable beer, very good. Nice combo of hoppy and belgian. I liked it significantly more this time, found it to be more complex. Might have had it too cold the first time.

Clever branding and tremendous hype behind this one. To me it falls flat. Taste profile a bit overbearing and citrus presence is unwelcome and excessive. The bottles I had seemed slightly flat as well.

Dark golden to copper in color. Fairly sweet start with caramel and light brown sugar. Not real wild, an older bottle just has more maltiness. 9/10

Pours a nice golden orangish. Aromas of malts, fruit, and a touch of spice. Has flavors of hops, caramel malts, and a touch of wood that finishes with some nice Brettlike notes.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1 pint 6 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 8.85%, 1.082 OG and 72.51 IBU. It also note that it was fermented with the Westmalle yeast strain.
Appearance: The body has a deep amber color with a thick cloudy yeast haze. It’s topped off with a quick setting head of off white foam. Only a light thin film covering remains after a minute. Lacing is minimal and slick.
Smell: The aroma has sweet bready maltiness with notes of honey and then loads of pineapple, apple peel, orange peel and some pine like hops.
Taste / Palate: The flavor is full of sweet honey notes inside of a deep bready and yeast like base with waves of different fruity notes. My bottle is fairly well aged so hop bitterness is much lower than a fresh bottle. It also worth noting that the 8.85abv is not noticeable at all. The palate and feel are fairly full and smooth. Carbonation is low.

2 finger head is very rocky with great retention.. very clear lite orange golden brew.
The nose is immediate and surprisingly pungent hoppy.. citric hoppiness with a great pale malt backbone..
Bitter bite out of the gate with pale malts that melt quickly into an unapologetic citric hoppiness.. some floral hoppiness and minor pine come into play... but wow.. this is an IPA... no where near an American Wheat!!!! Maybe a little bready as it warms, but again the hops just strip away any malt components.
I have had a very hard time with this one... I know lagunitas used a bunch of wheat.. but really... the hops are abundant and expected..

Wonderful aroma of little apricot, caramel and orange peel. Foam is great at pouring, but quickly falls into a flimsy creamy foam layer on top. It is probably due to the high alcohol strength that foam is not so violent. It is launched as a strong ale. Fruit balance is excellent and it is well to a little heavy caramel. The fruit is again orange peel and apricot, perhaps also a little peach. I think it is close to an English barley wine, because just British barley wines often packs taste of alcohol into good fruity malt tones and caramel, while the American barley wines are much more alcohol dominated and often much stronger.

On tap at Taze. Nice nose with mix of spicy-herbal fresh hops and light wildish funk. Dry. Golden amber with light haze, topped with white fluffy creamy lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts and stays dry with carbonic fizz. Big hop flavor but not too bitter. Nice wild funky notes with big bitter finish and smooth after. Tasty.

Tap, aroma is malts and pine with some citrus, taste is well balanced malts and citrus and earthy hops, seems more along the lines of an ipa... nice
