A Unique Dry-Hopped Sweet Tart Sour Mash Ale

We soured the wort on the Hot Side with Lactobacillus for a few days and then brewed up this smooth and hoppy sour. It tastes like a big bowl of fruity candy or some chewable flavored vitamins, but what’s the difference? It’s sweet, tart, and sassy, just like the tasty cherry pie that your favorite aunt makes. For all the Aunt Sally’s out there, You know who you are...

You remember it like it was yesterday. The beer flowed like music. The music was all that mattered. What mattered most was that nothing else mattered at all and the world outside fell away as a dream disappears upon waking, ephemeral and vaporous. You cradled her in your hand, lips trembling, her citrus suchness a swarm of expectation in your mind, her carbonate beauty as satisfying as it was overwhelming. You were new to this dance but she was not. Taking her in completely she seized your senses and you were consumed by the luminous passion, her residual sweetness, and the tart earthiness of her grin... This brew is dedicated to the real Aunt Sally. You know who you are. And you know why.

Smells of big stinky hops with a slight fruity undertone to those hops. Clear gold with thin but lasting head. The first sip your welcomed by this big hop door that slides in to this thin dry delicate tartness. The dry sour finish has a woody, dried fruit essence that I find in some of my favorite Belgian sours. Very impressive.

This beer is my heaven and likely because I love beer and love sour patch kids. It's legitimately sour. A complex fruit and hop palate. I could see someone hating this because of the tartness but I'm in love. Had at Morton Arboretum craft beer fest and rating with a bottle a week later. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is both sweet and sour. This is great. Sweet, sour, fruity, tart, it’s extremely tingly on the tongue. This beer can be a sipper or a session beer. Outstanding..

Really kind of neat take on a sour. Hop aroma. Flavor’s hop, citrus fruit and pith, malt, just right sour matched perfectly with the carbonation. Super drinkable.

Extremely refreshing. Sour and fruity with some elegant hopping to create a sparkling and crispy brew. A masterpiece!

Nice and tart. I wish it was more like 10% alcohol like Peche n Brett. Still, excellent taste and sharp bite.

A 250ml pour on tap at BeerTemple into a Lagunitas mason jar glass. It was a clear golden colour with a less than half finger white head that had pretty good retention and good lacing. Aromas of sour grape followed by lots of tropical mango, peach and apricot with hints of honey and funk. Tastes sour, tart, mango, apricot, peach with a hint of citrus orange on the finish. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall it was very refreshing and easy to drink. Easily a drink all day and anytime type of beer.

Pours hazy golden orange with a large white head. Smells tart and funky with a fruitiness. Taste is tart, funk, citrus and pine bitterness. Light-bodied with a wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Lagunitas Aunt Sally finishes with a lingering earthy bitterness.
