I had this beer at the SLO Xtreme beerfest. It pours a cloudy dark sorghum color with a foamy taupe/tan head. It demonstrates excellent head retention. Chocolate syrup aroma. Viscous, with chocolate syrup up front that yields to hints of coconut. My friend even called it piña coloda. This beer is a lot of fun. Not something one would imbibe all evening, but a shifter after a steak and potato dinner would hit the spot. wxman (1841) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - APR 26, 2011
Pours a clear copper color with a full orange/tan head. Aroma is bread dough and hops. Sweet caramely malt flavor along with a little burnt sugar and lots of robust hoppiness. This is quite good, but I think I’d call it an imperial IPA. beernbourbon (1600) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Tap at brewpub. Pour is murky brown with only a whisper of a head. Aroma and flavor loaded with toffee malt, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, and faint dried fruit. Mega good stuff. So deep dark and smooth. Drinks incredibly easy. BeerFanDan17 (1122) - Brunswick, Maine, USA - FEB 17, 2011
A nice barley wine style ale. Dark brown sugar and pitted fruits warm the palate. Pours dark orange brown. Brentv (682) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 7, 2016
On the Brick Store Pub cellared sampler. Dark chestnut pour. Plum and toffee and brown sugar candy. Sweet. Medium full mouthfeel. Nice barleywine.

2007 version in 2010. Cloudy, dark orange pour with a scant, off-white head. Cotton candy start, medium body, no hops, chocolate middle and finish. Lightly carbonated. Has aged into sweetness, would be interesting to be able to compare this brew fresh to what it is like now. mayday035 (120) - san jose, California, USA - FEB 3, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Pours murky brown with very little head around the edge of the glass. Aroma is predominantly toffee malt, a bit of toast and oak. Taste is toffee, bourbon, oak, a bit of resinous and spicy hops, finishing with a little bitterness and alcohol warmth. Porter4Me (9) - Washington, USA - MAR 5, 2011 does not count
Light hop and grain smell. Amber with wonderful legs. Malty taste with woody hop bite. Not too sweet. Very good but young. Bottle says Two-’Aught-11 so I plan on keeping a bottle around for a year or two. Hopefully I can wait that long to try it again. JAYAR1 (5) - GLEN ELLYN, Illinois, USA - MAR 20, 2011 does not count
