Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours black with a thin beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, dark chocolate and malt. Full-bodied with a bourbon character and flavors of oak, caramel malt and a bit of dark fruit. The finish is boozy with an oaky, malty aftertaste. Good overall.
On the Brick Store Pub cellared sampler. Dark chestnut pour. Plum and toffee and brown sugar candy. Sweet. Medium full mouthfeel. Nice barleywine. Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 11, 2014
On tap @ Rattle N Hum NYC as "Barrel aged Gnarleywine". Not much of a head on this one. The little foam that was present at first has quickly disappeared. The beer itself is deep dark brown one, almost red in a way. On the nose it has lots of lovely alcohol! Really bourbon infected with both vanilla and booze. Damn, this smells nice. Strong, sticky and really intense. Yeah, this is one of those really good beers. It has a strong sticky mouthfeel and a soft prickling carbonation level. Lots of strong sticky fruity flavors. Vanilla and wood, booze with dates, figs and nuts. The bourbon has completely taken over this one! Not to much, but still it’s nearing a bourbon monster. Really mouthdrying nut-zesty finish and aftertaste in this with lots of sweet brown sugar. Well, a flavor bomb like I haven’t tastes in quite a while. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a brownish red with a small tan head. Aroma is rich sweet spirit notes, boozy, woody and slightly tart. Flavor is awesome, chocolate-covered caramel, See’s candies, vanilla, honey, milkshakes. Real good.

I had this beer at the SLO Xtreme beerfest. It pours a cloudy dark sorghum color with a foamy taupe/tan head. It demonstrates excellent head retention. Chocolate syrup aroma. Viscous, with chocolate syrup up front that yields to hints of coconut. My friend even called it piña coloda. This beer is a lot of fun. Clear, copper, amber orange with pale, thin head and good lacing.
Aroma of sweet caramel, toffee, whiskey and vanilla.
Taste of bourbon, brown sugar, rich thick caramel, toffee and alcohol.
Very full body and light carbonation.

Tap at brewpub. Pour is murky brown with only a whisper of a head. Aroma and flavor loaded with toffee malt, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, and faint dried fruit. Mega good stuff. So deep dark and smooth. Drinks incredibly easy.
