COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An aborted batch of their Old Gnarleywine ended up tasting nearly as good as that they were hoping for, so they bottled it. God bless capitalism. OG 1.100 IBU 51.1

draft at barleys in greenville. pours a dark amber/ruby with a very short white head with great lacing. aroma is sweet and malty with brown sugar, pine sap, and dried fruit. flavor has huge hop sweetness, hints of rum cake, caramel malt, and piney hops. mouthfeel is slightly thick and syrupy with a solid alcohol burn on the back end. very interesting and quite good beer.

12oz bottle from Windsor Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Subdued aromas of ripe, juicy grapefruit, pineapple, apricot, peach and pear, with a trace of starchy maltiness if youre looking for it. Pours a rusty copper amber with two fingers of pillowy off-white head and an explosion of effervescence that roils up from the bottom of the glass in waves, more like a lava lamp or a 1950s science fiction movie test tube than a beer. Moderate lacing leaves the glass looking very photogenic. Tastes like super ripe pineapple and pineapple candy up front, sweet with an intense citric acid kind of burn, followed by peaches and pears and hop bitterness mid-palate with a long tangy, piney finish that resist and balance eachother pleasantly and satisfyingly. Light- to medium-bodied with intense acidity that powerfully cleanses the palate like a slice of fresh cut lemon. Great carbonation, ever so slightly mouthcoating and not astringent at all. Very easy to drink. Not what I was expecting at all, but an impressive beer nevertheless. Very light, very easy to drink, no alcohol burn, lots of juicy tropical fruit, and none of the qualities that tend to turn me off to some styles of IPA. Thank you Lagunitas!

Didnt expect much, guess thats why it was so good. Hop bitterness on initial taste, then strong sweet caramel blends nicely for a long chewy nice finish.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours ruby brown, tan froth head. Aroma of pine, plum, nut, black cherry. Taste of same with fruity booze finish. Yeah...a tiny bit of brown sugar with lots of dark berry. A lot of herbal medicinal flavor too on top of the boozy finish.

Red amber with thick off-white head. Malty caramely aroma. Taste - caramel, brown sugar, molasses. Sweet and sticky but has some significant spicy bitter hoppiness which cuts the sweet. Big at near 9% but dangerously drinkable. Delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rating #2197 - 2015.12.01 - Draught @revolutionyeg - Aroma is brown sugar, caramel, toffee. Pours a rich amber, barely there white head. Medium carbonation, heavy alcohol warmth. Probably the best tasting abortion ever, this avoids some of the hotness of raw boozy barleywines, sweet sugary notes linger into a pretty exquisite bitterness. Nice.
