[A] Smells nutty, light roasted malt, subtle dark fruit, and light coffee, sweet creamy notes. [A] Pours a thin, almost clear, weak coffee brown. Nice tall light tan head. Recedes creamy with nice lacing. [F] Mouth is creamy, nice upfront coffee and lactose sweetness. Roast bitter with subdued but present hops. Touch of chocolate. Good feel. Better toward room temp. Faintly similar to a weak cup of java. [P] Mouth is thin, slightly creamy and slick. ABV just. Not really there. Buried under malty sweetness. [O] Pretty solid. Came off little sweet initially, but definitely a warm-drinking stout.

Smells like a rusty coffee can. Tastes like some day old maxwell house out of that can.

65cl bottle @ William K, kurvi. 8,9% version. Poured near black with a thin brown head. Aroma has strong coffee, roasted malt, licorice, spicy notes. Lots of coffee here, builds up nicely with some licorice, mild ashy notes, roasted malt, dark chocolate. Long finish. Nice, but expected better body though.

Bottle. Jet black in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of coffee, stewed fruit, and a bit of vanilla. Flavors are of mild drip coffee, pale malt, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Elements of ashy coffee grounds show up on the finish, along with some mild herbal bitterness. Solid, but not terribly intense.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2016 Espresso and roasted malt aromas, dark fruit/chocolate too. Taste is espresso, bitter roasted malt, and dark chocolate. After it has warmed, a fudgey dark chocolate and plum flavor becomes codominate with the espresso.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2016 I have had many coffee stouts over the last two years since I have gotten into craft. There are variations left and right. The Cappuccino Stout is a nice spin on the style by being a high gravity brew with a bit of the milk stout DNA appearant. The nose is lent more toward coffee and cinnamon while the taste is a melody of chocolate, espresso and a cinnamon kick. It looks great in the glass with a massive 3 finger head. A rich dark brown appearance.

The pour is dark black, with just a bit of dark tan foam. You can smell the coffee, but its not overpowering. The initial taste is rich stout with notes of roasted hops and coffee while chocolate and roasted hazelnut comes thru as it sits on the tongue. The finish is slightly bitter with coffee lingering. Good stuff though.

Day-Old coffee and coffee bitterness mingling with some some low hoppiness ... maybe a little alcohol. Taste is similar with caramel and significant roasted nuts ... finish is a cup of espresso with a touch of sweetness. Very smooth mouthfeel ... it is big, not a chore to finish, but you still need to stick around and appreciate it.

My 1000 th rating. Pours a dark brown/black with a thick head and great retention. Aromas coffee, brownie, cocoa, slight smoky wood. Flavors medium coffee, light wood, medium cocoa, slight brownie. Medium sweetness medium bitter finish. This is not to complex but decent. Have had way better coffee stouts and most are better with age.
