Medium, slightly cloudy golden amber. Fairly well balanced, easy drinking APA. Not very distinctive but IMO quite well crafted and enjoyable. Goes well with food and would be good for a session. Dogbrick (13026) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 13, 2003
From Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA. Pours a dark gold/amber color with a medium thin light beige head. Aroma is lightly hoppy and citrusy. The flavor is decent but not really breaking new ground. Floral hops, citrus and a little malt. I did like the finish, which was nicely nutty throughout. Beyond that though this is middle of the road stuff. mpbro (132) - Stanford, California, USA - JAN 28, 2003
Slight above average beer.
Medium amber in color.
Aroma of yeast (bread), citrus, some hops.
Head: Extremely fine-bubbled,thick, lacy, receding, low-to-medium effervescence. Ends flocculent, with some floating yeast in the glass.
Thin, flattish mouthfeel, citric hoppy bite (not extreme or unpleasant).
Appropriate level of bitterness. Very little overt malt flavor. This is the beer's cardinal sin, IMO. 666seth (229) - California, USA - JAN 20, 2003
Pours in golden hazy, nice hoppy flavor. Nice malty aroma which balances the hops just right. Crit (4011) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 16, 2003
Don't let the faint hop nose fool you. They aren' indicative of the flavor. Lot more hops in the taste then in the nose, balanced with the right amount of malt.

Bottle. Medium golden color with a white laced head. Floral hop and malt aroma with a hint of citrus. A smooth, light, and a little sweet. psychodrama311 (122) - petaluma, Nevada, USA - DEC 9, 2002
decent beer. didn’t care for the finish but defintely a good beer to start a night with. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - DEC 1, 2002
Faint hop aroma. Thin, orange body with off-white head that is mostly lasting and creamy in appearance. Nice lace. Very light hops; an afront in that respect to the true American Pale Ale style. Moderate malt and floral notes that are annoying because they are not accompanied by enough bitterness. Overall too malty and below average for an American Pale Ale. loweredsixth (946) - Clovis, California, USA - NOV 27, 2002
A nice bready aroma with just a hint of hops bitterness. The flavor was a little bland...some breadiness, a little hops bitterness, but quite watery. This is a fine Pale Ale...not great...and, so far, my least favorite from this brewery. AceOfHearts (1374) - Mountain View, California, USA - NOV 12, 2002
I liked the yesty-bread aroma, along with the chewy mouthfeel. Pretty well-balanced, although it is a little bit sour as the cascades mix in toward the finish. But still, bartender, I’ll have another!
