3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Backlogged rating, on tap at OBriens in San Diego. Deep amber color with beige head. Aroma is cherry malt with butterscotch and spice. Some Belgian tones in the flavor, yeasty quad-like character. Strong alcohol bite on the rear with firm bitterness.
Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, on 3/30/11. Pours a clear copper color with a very thin white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of spicy hops, bready notes, citrus and a soy-like note reminiscent of Asian food. The taste is toffee, caramel, spicy, pepper hops and bready notes. Medium bodied. vtafro (7451) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Draft @ Capone’s. Amber pour with tan head. Malty fruit aroma, sweet smelling. Flavor is artificially sweet fruit and light malt tones, it does hide the 8 percent though. yespr (48876) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - JUN 7, 2011
From tap at Gingerman. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity and slight toasted malty. Sweet, caramelish and toasted malty. Sweet and caramelish finish, slight estery touch. Ends bitter too. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 26, 2011
On tap at Frisco Grille: Pours a clear deep copper amber with a small ring of off-white head. Has a sweet toasty caramel and wheaty nose with a fair amount of citrusy hops and a touch of bubble gum. Starts with a rich chewy sugary sweetness, some peppery clove and a lot of citrusy hops, at least for a weizenbock, before a resiny bittersweet finish. Seems underattenuated, but does hide its alcohol fairly well. Nonetheless, an interesting take on the style.

Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Sweet malty and yeasty aroma with a hint of hops. The flavor is well balanced, with toffee sweet malt, yeasty spicy notes, wheat, and a bit of a grassy hoppy kick. Pretty good. juiceisloose (1603) - Windermere, Florida, USA - MAY 12, 2011
Draft at the brewery. This one pours a deep reddish copper color and topped by a small head of off white foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of dark fruits, toasted caramel, toffee, and a touch of earthy hops atop a base of wheat and toasted bread malts. Really sweet smelling. The flavor follows suit with the dark fruits, candied sugar, and caramel sweetness being the dominant components with the wheat and earthy hops adding some bitterness to the back end. The sugary sweetness starts to get a bit cloying without anything to balance it out. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and sticky on the palate with a lengthy bitter sweet finish. Not bad at all, but just gets a bit too sweet for my tastes. jeremytoni (3085) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - APR 14, 2011
From the tap poured a brown color with a fair amount of head. Malty sweet flavor with a light hoppy finish. Rciesla (5607) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAR 25, 2011
Draft. Amber with a white head. Reminds me immediately of a weizen. Fruity tones, light skins of apples, berries but none in particular very in discriminant, wheat and a mild cherry warming. Very sweet and difficult to drink much of 2 to the cloying body. Chalsk (1104) - North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA - MAR 8, 2011
On tap at Capones. I was thrown off by the mis-label of the beer as a DIPA. Now I understand why I stuggled to pick up the DIPA in the tasting. Pours an amber orange color with a white foam head. Sweet caramel flavor with lots of candy sugar.
