COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

ElBorracho (472) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 27, 2006
Bottle at The Map Room. Much more malt heavy than expected. Reminded me of a "light" barley wine with caramel and toffee malts being the dominant flavor and the hops being in the background.

Bomber ours russet color with a persistant white head. Balanced hop/malt aroma that is consistent to the finish on the palate. Fruity, caramel malt backbone. Overall, another well-balanced winner from Lagunitas.

Dark copper with red hues large tan head. Malty sweet citrusy IPA like aroma. Great hops presence, lets you know its there. Excellent hops malt combination as the malt fights to make it presence known as well. Dry and bitter with a nutty finish. Aftertaste is unsweetened grapefruit. Fabulous American Strong.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Bärnstensfärgad vätska med vitt skum. Doftar stort humligt. Kraftig humlearomatisk smak. Riktigt kraftig

pressboxjoe (464) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 29, 2009
Bottle from the Foodery in Philadelphia. Nice deep red color with robust off-white head. Strong aroma of hops and strawberries, little floral. Smooth, fruity, sweet and unusual. Possibly the most unexpectedly tasty beer I’ve had.

Bottle. Tastes smells caramel hops sweet bit booze. No real head kind of syrup texture. Not really good maybe bottle was old had like a stale funk to it I wouldn’t buy it again.

Taste 12/8 Bottle. Looks: Clear dark brown color. Aroma:Malty, nutty and wood. Taste: While the aroma is muted dark tones, the taste is vibrant. Very malty red with a nice smooth bitterness. Alcohol presence is mild. A nice yeasty flavor that I like. It balances the malt well. I like it above the current 3.71/94 percentile.

Changed (462) - Ithaca, New York, USA - FEB 14, 2009
12oz bottle. Pours deep dark copper, finger of off-white head and nice lacing. Basically, this is the same exact beer as Ithaca Cascazilla, just a little pricier. In fact, if you bottled this in the Cascazilla bottles, nobody would know the difference. Check that- Ithacans would probably notice that Cascazilla has a bit more... ZING to it. Pretty good beer though...

CMUBEERMAN (457) - - MAY 7, 2006
on tap at d’s. Clear orangish red with no head. Aroma is lots of citrus and a bit of grass. Flavor is similar...quite a bit of citrusy hops and a tad bit of caramel malt. Body is lightly carbonated and a bit oily. This is kind of like a troegs nugget nectar that didn’t quite make it.
