A pretty fruity aroma, some hops. Some lime and orange maybe. Now this is tasty. A great hop flavor, some sweetness, a bit of caramel malt. Overall awesome. Wulfstan (509) - California, USA - SEP 17, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 28, 2008 This is a rich, flavourful beer with complexity, body, great balance and a pleasant, flowery element in the finish. It’s full of strong flavour, yet very drinkable and smooth. A nice reddish-brown, it has a rich foamy head with good lacing. LooseCannon (938) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - SEP 17, 2007
12oz bottle. Pours reddish copper color with lite brown head. Aroma of citrus hops. Taste of grapefruit and sweet malt with bitter after taste. Aroma and taste of lite Double Bastard, outstanding ASA. obguthr (6432) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - SEP 29, 2007
Strong aroma of grapefruit and caramel, with an enticing woodiness. The color is very red, decent clarity, and a thin yellow head. Medium body, wonderful thistle and grapefruit taste, smoky undertones. Finishes with a most perfectly complimentary bitter hop. The alcohol is felt in the belly not on the palate. Served in a frosted glass and was still superb! RABinCO (1511) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAR 22, 2012
Pours a mid copperish red. Big fresh, grassy hops aroma off the big pillowy head. The taste doesn’t live up entirely to the big aroma, but it’s a solid, hoppy flavor. Not as much of a grapefruit flavor as I’m accustomed to with these red IPAs.

Bomber ours russet color with a persistant white head. Balanced hop/malt aroma that is consistent to the finish on the palate. Fruity, caramel malt backbone. Overall, another well-balanced winner from Lagunitas. Ericular (1020) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 3, 2014
Pours an insane deep amber with fine sediment firmly suspended, a lasting, pillowy head that leaves great lacing. This is one of the best looking beers I’ve ever seen. Aroma is fresh, clean, crisp, fruity hops with a little dankness for character. Taste is supremely balanced for the style. Hops bring some grapefruit up front, the caramel malts bring some sweetness in the middle, and in the end they meld together into a toffee hop bitterness that’s top notch. Palate is well-carbonated and sticker than expected from the hop-forward aroma. Ideal hop profile with a hint of roasted malt and incredible drinkability. This stuff is really, really good. Poured into a goblet. Thick head. Great hop aroma. Clear ruby red color. Nice malty body with slight hop bitterness. Crisp finish followed by a resiny hop aftertaste. WABeerFiend (413) - - JAN 17, 2015
Poured from a bomber into a Lagunitas glass on 08.20.14.
A: Red grapefruit and sweet malt.
A: 2 finger off-white head that stays the entire time. See through red body.
T: Burnt red grapefruit dominates. Sweet malt as a base and pine are subtle.
O: There is a nice bitterness on the back end that fades into sweetness. The red grapefruit flavor is delicious. It is hop forward for an amber (red, whatever), but it’s the Lagunitas style and it works very well.
