Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of the day, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrhagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, weird, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to a futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown/almost black with a thin mocha head. Dark chocolate malt aroma with molasses. Taste is sweet with rich chocolate flavors, cocoa nibs, balanced with bitterness from some molasses and some mild leather notes. A good amount of alcohol is present. Full bodied. Nice!

Bomber. Little aroma. Flavors if carob, roasty ash, a little bit of walnut, some cocoa. A bit watery.

Opaque dark brown, tan head. Somewhat sweet chocolate, espresso, some dark spice and fruit. Fairly bitter, creamy sweetness. Heavier body, pretty clean. Long fairly effervescent finish. Good.

Pours dark, rich, smoky, roasted malt aroma and flavor. Strong smoky and roasted malt flavor of espresso, bakers chocolate. Full body. Straight forward enjoyable strong stout

Big bodied, strong, a very good stout. Poured heavy inside of a tulip glass, black body, an appealing malty brown head that hangs around. Smells of roasted pecans. First taste is a kick. Dark chocolate, berry, followed by toffee. Malty, scorched toast. Stays with a full, broad palate. A hint of alcohol throughout. 22 oz. bomber means one and done. Save the second bottle for another time. Yowzah Lagunitas. Good job.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy finely sized dark brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque except at the edges black brown colored body and a poor lacing. The nice aroma was dark malt. The thick mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering mild roasted malt aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of roasted malt and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

A tasty imperial stout. Pours black. Aromas of dark malts, sour cherries, cocoa powder. Flavours are cocoa powder, a bit of tang, dark malts.

northropfrye (3506) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 5, 2016
Dark black body, brown head, some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, and like a sharp acidic booze. Rubbing alcohol and strawberries. Taste is fairly rich cocoa, dried fruit, dry finish, lactose. Not the best imperial stout. Has a few odd elements to it. But over all, tasty and worth drinking.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Chocolate, dark chocolate, earth tones, and some roasty notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied and thick. Finishes with cocoa and roast.

This stout pours a light mahogany into the glass. A lush and dense whip cream like head of dark tan foam sits invitingly on top of a black colored appearance. The aromas bursts with rich caramel and chocolate malt. Some medium roast coffee enveloped within. On the taste there are sweet caramel and cocoa notes. The smooth creamy mouthfeel and chewy full body give it that dessert like character. The sweet malts are rounded out by a light coffee roast in the finish. Grocery Outlet
