This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet youre on.

Pours clear light amber with light head and nice lace. Wonderful hop aroma smells like fresh wildflowers and grass. Malty base with sweet edge is also evident. Mouthfeel is unremarkable, but not bad. Taste is weak compared to the aroma. Little bit on the front end, hop flavor is more like dried wood with herby edge. Alcohol is totally not evident. Tastes good, but Id rather bathe in the aroma all day.

(Bottle). Huge resiny and citrus hops aroma. Orange-amber body, off-white head. Flavor is medium-sweet citrus (lemon and orange) plus malt. Nowhere near the bitterness of, say, DFH. Almost closer to an APA. Subtle dry finish. Refreshing, but not eye-popping.

Had this at the Orsted cafe/bar, Kobenhaven 13-09-08 Poured amber with a white bubbly head. This had a good hoppy aroma tinged with some malt and light alcohol. Hoppiness getting better and quite mushy, good beer but not quite up to the level of the Pale Ale that we’d also tried.

6-pack from Total Wine, River Edge, NJ...bottle pours clear amber with a white head...aroma of tangerine and pine...flavor includes the same with a nice hops presence and mild bitterness...thin but smooth mouthfeel, thin lacing...easy drinking IPA.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2009 Bottle (Orsted Olbar, Copenhagen)
Nutty US hop aroma, quite pleasant. Similar US mouthfeel, but ends a bit flat. Theres a plain bitterness, and some plastic in the taste. Smells nicer than it tastes. At least the hops dont build obnoxiously. Docking a couple of points overall for the utterly wanky commercial description. Someone kill whoever wrote that. (6-3-6-3-8=2.6)
Rerate: 355ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam) (6-3-5-3-8=2.5)
Pleasant piney hop aroma, nothing particularly special, and certainly nothing like an IPA. Perfumed and fruity soapy taste. Finish is astringent, grassy, and metallic. Commercial description still wank - "unique version" just means "unable to make anything like the original version". Why be so proud of their own inabilities?

On tap at Mgoos. Amber, very slightly cloudy with nice floral hops odor and good mix of floral and dry hops, just a little thin, but nice clean finish

bottle poured a light amber color with a two finger white head that fell slowly. aroma has piney hops, lighter citrus, and mild caramel malt. mouth feel is on the lighter side with medium high carbonation. resinous piney citrus hop leads into a thinly malted brew. somewhat thin for such a hopped beer but lending nice flavors. bitterness smacks it down and perfumey.
