Bottle. Light amber beer with an off-white head. Very fruity - peach, appricot, grapefruit - aroma. Very fruity flavor - pithy grapefruit, peach, mango. Good bitterness. Low malt - I usually like a little more than is shown. Lingering grapefruit/tropical hops. Lots of hops. Medium body. I did like it more as I finished it, but I want either a bit more malt or a bit more pine - something to counter the fruitiness. troopie (2341) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - AUG 17, 2007
Bottle. Poured clear golden with thin white head. Much lacing. Citrus, peach and floral aroma. Peach, naartjie and hoppy flavour. Medium body. Lingering floral, hoppy finish. Lovely beer. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - AUG 16, 2007
22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear golden color with a one finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Has a sweet citrus and floral aroma. Flavor is mostly hops with some residual malt sweetness. Medium body. No lingering aftertaste. A very nice beer. Reminds me of Mojo Risin. Definately drink this one fresh if you like DIPA’s. May have to pick up some more. SamuraiArtist (292) - portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 16, 2007
Bottle: pours a clear light orange color with a 1 finger white head. Citrusy orange and catty sharpness in the aroma. Smells a lot like the Hop Stoopid. Looks like it too. Flavor is light and has only a slight maltyness and slight bitterness but lots of hop flavor. Many notes of floral and orangey and hints of lemon in the flavor. Also definitely that cattyness which i really dont like. Tastes like a lighter hop stoopid or an imperial pale ale. Pretty good but had me scratching my head. Rich copper hue with a hint of red highlights. White vital head. Charismatic notes of bitter hops and fragrantly mealy malts that transpire magnificently through to the palate. Lagunitas has done it again! What a stellar concoction!

Bomber Bottle from Berkeley Bowl, Berkeley CA. Very drinkable for an almost 8% brew. Big citrus hop nose. Smells like it’s going to be overly sweet, but the first taste lets you know it’s not. A little harsh on the finish. Nice resiny, citrus flavors. Definitely Summit hops in here, and/or possibly Columbus. Excellent, clean, enjoyable IPA with a great label. I hope Lagunitas keeps this up, it’s setting a different standard for one-off specialty beers. DYCSoccer17 (3698) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 15, 2007
22 ounce bomber purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Sharp, crisp, spicy, piney aggressively hopped nose. There is some light ethanol present retronasally, though. Rather aromatic and mostly pleasant (with the exception of the ethanol). Transparent light copper or dark golden body with a small to medium whitish head. Spicy, vibrant, bitter hoppiness to start. Becomes a little more citric and juicy in the middle. Sweet, grainy malts are there in the middle. Finishes with a little milkiness and a little citrus hop flavor. Not overly hoppy to finish. Ethanol is well-hidden. A nice, balanced, drinkable IIPA. Reid (2541) - Salem, Oregon, USA - AUG 15, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2007 Surprised to see another Zappa beer from Lagunitas!
Album cover, Zappas glowering face stares out.
Bright orange beer, largeish thick off white head.
Very citric hoppy aromas, some almost rose scented aspect to it.
Very hoppy taste, its all grapefruit/lemon, coating, but the refreshinhly thin palate helps in drinkability.
I found this to be a very drinkable IPA ( IMO)quite a summer quaffer if not for the alcohol volume ( which is never noticed). beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - AUG 14, 2007
Ahh, I was wondering what this beer was, now I found it. Another Zappa beer from Lagunitas. Pours orange with a nice red hue and a strong white head. Beautiful floral citrus aroma, very fresh sweet grapefruit nose. Taste is a long display of hops, staying mostly in the grapefruit citrus realm. Big bitter finish. The palate in coated in hops, sticking to the tastebuds, this would be a great beer to clean the palate with a meal. Very pithy orange peel flavor in the finish emphasizes the bitterness even more. I prefer a touch more sweetness up front, but I can’t complain, its a nice beer.
