3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Is "ambitious" too cliche to describe a beer? If not, then let me say that this beer is... ambitious. Their website describes it as "BIG on the Amarillo Hops and Rich Dark Malts for a Round and Huge, Smoky Flavor" (my apologies on the punctuation and capitalization in that quote, that’s painful to read).
I wish it tasted as good as they describe it instead of being just another average, hoppy, American strong ale.
Restrained aroma in an amber pour. Big hop forward balance to start with big sweat malt body to match. Laid back bitter finish leaves one wanting another. One of the best RIPAs I’ve had - and has to be a benchmark of the style. meccahh69lol (220) - New Haven, Connecticut, USA - JUL 13, 2017
This is an old favorite from my old favorite brewery. It pours a reddish hue with a medium head. It has a malty spicy aroma. The flavor is a robust, round hop bitterness with a burnt caramel aftertaste. It is a very solid, early aughts style beer (as in it doesn’t taste like juice) that hides its 8.8ABV well. Good for a Thursday night feast of Popeyes and avoidance of the mysterious rotten trash smell that will now haunt our hallway till the morning. bkurtz (1094) - Florida, USA - JUL 13, 2017
Bottle - Pours amber with a smallish head. Bright citrus aroma...not expecting that with bready malt. Good mouthfeel and a lot going on, yet they work well together. Very enjoyable. StoutBeerReviews (148) - Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 11, 2017
nose is hoppy and sweet, flavor is moderately hoppy with a nice malt balance. a very nice fluffy head that stays for a considerate amount of time. Alchohol is very well hidden like others have said. nice beer here sinfull (1655) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - JUL 5, 2017
Clear , amber color. Nice , off-white head. Malt , caramel and pine in aroma. Sweet, malty taste with flavors of caramel and grapefruits. Strong, hoppy bitterness at the end.

Superficial festival rating at DØE - Ølfestival København 2017. Amber body with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma is malty with caramel, pine and fruity hops, some grapefruit. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, dry fruit, pine, grapefruit, good bitterness and some alcohol. Fine body and long lasting sweet and bitter aftertaste. Pretty solid stuff. UPDATED: JUN 6, 2017 Bottle poured into an English pint glass. Pours a caramel color with a huge frothy head that leaves some nice lacing and lots of visible carbonation. Aroma is caramel malts, pine, and grass. Initial taste is very balanced between the malt and hops. Aftertaste has more grassy notes. Full body and just enough carbonation. I love a good red ale and this is certainly one. Only time you can sense the ABV is the warming feeling afterwards. BelgianBeerGal (4066) - Panama City, Florida, USA - JUN 6, 2017
Fresh bottle from somewhere local, most likely Beach Liquor. Pretty bold aroma and flavor of dark, sweet malt and medium bitterness from citrus hops and a hint of pine. Pretty nice and the almost 9 ABV is well hidden. Block (2727) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - MAY 29, 2017
Nice hops in the aroma and flavor. Well balanced. Malty backbone. Alcohol is masked.
