Dang, this is a bitter beer. Wonderful hoppiness and clarity. See through it like a window. The amount of alcohol is great when you want to get a buzz off only a couple of drinks. Great lacing, carbonation bite, and smooth finish with great taste. Had a big bottle a while ago, now picked up a 6 pack- Same as before if not better. Top notch IPA- I only wish I could figure out the recipe so I can make a clone. A hop head delight.
(Rating #958) Saarlander (1920) - Saarlouis, GERMANY - APR 10, 2007
nice copper pour with small head, lacing lasted for the whole beer. Lots of malt is there, with some nice hoppiness, but more subdued than expected. a little of an alcohol bite, but not too bad. Decent, but could us some balance. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - APR 9, 2007
Copper Coloring with White Ring. Wet Hop, Sweet Malt Aroma. Sweet Malt Foundation...Alot of Wet Hop Flavor..Dry Hopped Aftertaste..Caramel Malt Balances Out the Brew...but Certainly a Hop Lovers Beer. RoboHop (21) - Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2007
This is a good DIPA. There isn’t much that stands out about it, however. It’s overall quality has been evidenced in countless other IPA’s. The best thing I can say about it is that it had a slight kick indicative of a higher alcohol level.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2008 Good foamy head at the pour, nice amber color to it, with piny aroma. The hops are there, but I was expecting more from a "Maximus" IPA. Some grapefruit and orange citrus in the flavor, semi-balanced overall with an average finish on the palate. Nothing spectacular but worth a try if you’re a hop freak. Pours a reddish ambery with a light tan head. Aroma is slight citrus, pine and a bit of alcohol. Taste is citrus hops, pine, alcohol and some caramel malt. Nothing meshes well with this beer. The hop presence is understated. That malt doesn’t add any real balance to the mix. The alcohol presence is way too high for a beer that is only 7.5% abv. This was a train wreck of an IPA. Glad I only got a single bottle of this. sbrewno (49) - Frankfort, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2007

Cirrus cloudy head, pillowy silk mouth. Nice hops in the nose, great chops in the blows. Drink this sh!t to get sh![email protected]
Pours a hazy golden with a small head that leaves adequate lacing. Aroma is very aggressively hopped. Notes of cirus are mostly grapefruit and orange. Chemical odors protrude. Leafy and with prickly alcohol. Flavor is unimpressive and at times annoying: bitter hoppiness clashes distinctly with toasty malts that seem only half extracted, raw. Finishes bitter and moderately dry. Not very good at all. There is a big difference between pleasant hops and nasty bitterness that is crossed over like it’s unimportant to differentiate between the two. The hops never seem fresh, but the beer undoubtedly is. Extreme hoppiness can’t mask these egregious flaws. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - MAR 29, 2007
Now that is an Imperial IPA! Pours dark tan brown with a frothy head. Has an incredibly strong hoppy flavor and scent. Mouthfeel is smooth and goes down with a little bit of an aftertaste but a good one in that.
