Bottle... Poured a red/amber color with a foamy head that lasted with nice lacing. Malty, hoppy aroma, the usual for an IPA w/ the usual palate, mildy carbonated. Flavors of hops, caramel, alcohol, grainy and mild hops. Finishes with a lasting appeal. churchill00 (154) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 12, 2007
Bottle. Pours a beautiful amber color. Smells earthy with a strong aroma of wood--like cedar. Taste is expectedly hoppy for something called ’maximus’. Spicy in the mouth. Taste is strong, dry, and has a medium/long finish. I can’t shake the wood taste. Jeeez. steelers37 (62) - little ferry, New Jersey, USA - MAR 11, 2007

Big bottle. Pours a very nice hazt deep golden colour with a big long lasting rocky white head. Sweet very hoppy aroma. Flavour is sweet with a lot of hops, very fruity, citrus. Dry fruity finish. Very tasty brew! badgerben (5178) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 9, 2007
Gold color with a thin head. Pretty decent citrus hop aroma. Definite citrus hop taste with ample pine hop. Strong dry malt. It reminded me of Bells Hopslam, but not as grand.

Coppery color with off white head. Aroma is almost minimally hoppy for an IIPA, and the same goes for the flavor. Mediocre at best. joebrew (608) - Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA - MAR 9, 2007
Pours a nice golden caramel amber. Nice soft malt and sweet citrus hops on the nose. Nice creamy mouthfeel with hints of citrus hops as well as a nice floral finishing bitterness. BDR (2534) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - MAR 9, 2007
massive floral hops on this pale honey pour. Liquified flower shop in this unusally creamy beer. Hops not over the top like so many IPAs. harmfuldrunk (288) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 9, 2007

Ah, a very nice offering from Lagunitas, who are known for their specialties and their occasional duds. This is as advertised, a highly hopped IPA that has a good bite and lingering hop flavor on the palate. Not sure if I’d call it a double IPA, but it’s much better than their standard IPA, if not just for the fresh taste alone. Glad I picked up a 6’er.
