At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pous a clear medium copper with a one finger white head that fades away rather quickly leaving a thin cap and a little bit of lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma has the typical Lagunitas tropical fruit character. A touch of pine with a backing of bread and caramel albeit on the light side. Hops really dominate. The passionfruit and pine carried over into the flavor with Tons of tropical fruit up front. This is followed by a little bit of yeasty banana and a flash of ethanol. Bitterness is moderate to high leading to a dry, almost chalky, mouthfeel. Not much malt in the flavor maybe just a touch of bread. The body is a little bit thin which aids drinkability but somewhat subtracts from the overall experience. Overall, this is an ok beer but middle of the road as far as IIPA’s go. The body is a little too dry and this isn’t too much different from their standard IPA. Hop Stoopid is better and I probably won’t seek this one out again.

Pours orange, amber, golden with a white head and good retention with a nice aroma of citrus and hops. Tastes of malt and bitter hops with a citrus, lemon finish. It’s mostly dry with some booze. It’s also medium bodied with lively carbonation. Although the malt tastes dry, it’s caramel character balances well with the bitter hops.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2017 Gröna dofter. Något besk och söt smak. Fyllig. Finns något åt lök-hållet här? Trevlig Öl!

From Jul 2008 This pours a clear gold with a 1 finger head of foam. Not exactly a big head of foam for a vigorous pour but it has some staying power and there's some nice lacing. The smell is a nice balance of caramel malt and citrus and piney hops. Nice nose. The taste is also balanced. Plenty of malt for the malt lovers, plenty of hoppiness from flavours of grapefruit and some pine for the hop lovers, and put them together and you have a finely balanced DIPA. There's also some fruitiness here. Very nice. It borders on a full mouthfeel...silky smooth, and the alcohol is nicely hidden. It finishes on the sweet side but not overly so as there is a good kick of grapefruit right at the very end. Pretty easy drinking as well. This is a very well made example of the style and I can recommend it with no qualms.

Bottle from Alko, Helsinki Pours cloudy dark amber with a small fluffy white head. Light aroma of caramel, hops and citrus. Taste is initially sweet: caramel and malts with sour lingonberry, pine and slight citric notes. Even a trace of oak barrel can be spotted. Sweetness eventually gives in to sturdy bitter hoppiness, with a surprisingly smooth long finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very enjoyable Double IPA with kind of a special own flavor, building more upon caramel than citrus.

Nice hoppy IPA. Much more malty caramel and less citrus than many other IPAs, and can taste the 8% ABV. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2017 Rotted unripe orange & rubbing alcohol. Apricot. The fruit's failure to stand out and little-to-no maltiness leaves not much to stand in the way of the taste of alcohol. As this is my first Lagunitas brew, and 8.2% and 72 ibu's is right in my wheelhouse, I truly wanted to like this one, but found nothing nice to say. I reckon it'll get you drunk.

Pours a deep amber with a modest head that leaves only a thin lacing. Aroma is fruity with lots of citrus (mainly orange), pine and grass. Medium body, slick feel, soft/avg. carbonation. Taste starts off dry with lots of hop resin, and rounds off with zesty citrus and some caramel. Long and bitter finish, but it's still nicely balanced with the alcohol really well hidden.

Drunk 1 year after tap. Golden almost amber with a light white head. Grapefruit, caramel, hoppy and piney aroma. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter (not a lot of bitterness) with notes of grass, caramel and som hopps and with a liqourish finish.

Clear orange color with long lasting white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, mango. Taste is sweetish with bitter notes and long lasting bitterish finish. Well balanced and easy to drink. Very good ipa.
