At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

in bottle, thanks to sledge jr. A delightfully hoppy beer with a quick flash of floral, followed by grassy citrusness. palate is excellent, due to fine malt content. Truly enjoyable.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. A nice copper color and a sudsy white head that leaves some creative lacing. Aroma is purely hops with a little citrus and a lot of pine and floral. Taste is very well balanced with malt keeping the massive amounts of hops from being bitter. Palate is perfect for a big IPA; heavy but not thick. I’m a huge fan! Too many IPAs now are just bitter assaults on my taste buds...like they have something to PROVE. This one has nothing to prove.

Orange amber, quickly disappearing thin head and decent lacing. Citrus peel, resinous, earthy. A bitter wallop up front with even more bitterness on the wash. At 8.2abv and 72.41 I.B.U. this is some serious brew. More great stuff from Lagunitas. $10.99/12oz bottle sixer at Publix Boca Raton Florida.

Bottle->tulip: Pours a rocky, white, diminishing head that exhibits good lacing atop a carbonated, clear, amber body. Aroma grains and hops, perhaps with some honey notes in there. Medium bodied, long on the palate, mildly bitter, finishing astringently.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2005 Great beer, but not what I wanted out of the style. It’s a bit too sweet and not enough bitter in my opinion. Very similar to Hercules, if I remember correctly. Solid none the less. Thanks again to thefatmanrocks for sending this as a surprise, alongside two Double Bastards in a trade.

Bottle. An unclear orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy and grassy. The flavor is sweet hoppy with a dry hoppy end. Quite simple, but nice. Kind of lacking.

Perkeo (322) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 7, 2003
Gold copper amber; smells like "kind bud". It tastes like it too. Fruity. SO west coast. A little paper-like aftertaste, probably from too many hops. Hopheads, feed like Jackals...

tomxcs (321) - California, USA - MAY 13, 2006
This beer looked absolutely beautiful in the glass, red/brown amber, with a nice head and lace. Orange sweetness with lots of citrusy hops, long-lasting orangey bitterness. Fairly well-balanced, fruity but with a subdued hop nose. A little sticky, with a slight alcohol warmth. Thick mouthfeel with a lot of bubbles.

bottle pour. comes out a transparent amber color. citrus/floral hops punch you in the nose! medium bodied when it hits your tongue with a nice mix of malt / hop flavor going down. slightly harsh but definitely some great hop flavor here...

Pours a clear copper dark gold color with huge creamy head. Aroma is citrus hops and spice and a bread malt note. Taste following the aroma well. The flavors are strong and solid. This is one amazing beer leaving solid malt rings all the way down to the bottom of my glass!! And a great price! Its safe to say its the best bang for the buck.
