At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

Intense citrus/pine aroma, mildy malty and smell a bit of alcohol. Medium copper colored, clear. Taste is malty, dryer than average. Good amount of hops. Medium bodied. Alcohol well masked in the taste.

Orange amber, quickly disappearing thin head and decent lacing. Citrus peel, resinous, earthy. A bitter wallop up front with even more bitterness on the wash. At 8.2abv and 72.41 I.B.U. this is some serious brew. More great stuff from Lagunitas. $10.99/12oz bottle sixer at Publix Boca Raton Florida.

12 oz. bottle. Filtered, orangish gold. Really nice thick off white head with good lacing. Smell is grapefruit and tons of piney hops. Taste is citrusy and bitter with a good amount of malt sweetness to balance the strong hops. Nice velvety smooth texture. This is a great go to if you want an affordable DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours beautiful clear amber with big creamy off-white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, caramel and light floral. Taste is bitter and sweet, light alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, bitter hoppy finish. A great double ipa.

The Maximus is indeed a beer to be reckoned with. It pours a medium amber color, crested by an average, fizzy off-white head. A mostly diminishing head leaves fair lacing in its wake, as your eyes peer down into the sparkling body below. Aroma is of moderate flowery hops and light yeast, with a presence of alcohol. Initial taste is moderately sweet, which caught us off guard, but we were slapped back into reality with a moderately bitter finish. Medium on the mouth, it has a watery texture with soft carbonation. A moderate alcohol tinge is left behind to remind you that this is not a light beer. Dog gone good!

Orange color with little head. Aroma is dark fruit, hops. Taste is the same with some bitterness. Mouthfeel is good- some lingering. Not as smooth for lower ABV (among DIPAs).

bottle. Pours a bright, clear light copper color, half inch of tight off white head that sticks around and leaves plenty of lace. Aroma of light, crisp grapefruit and sweet oranges. Flavor starts with sharp grainy bitterness, sharp lemons and grapefruit, some pine needles. Not much malt or sweetness to speak of- some thin grainy sweetness in the background that stays there. Palate is even and full, lightly crisp and dry finish. Solid DIPA, though would be helped by some more depth to the hop character.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. A nice copper color and a sudsy white head that leaves some creative lacing. Aroma is purely hops with a little citrus and a lot of pine and floral. Taste is very well balanced with malt keeping the massive amounts of hops from being bitter. Palate is perfect for a big IPA; heavy but not thick. Im a huge fan! Too many IPAs now are just bitter assaults on my taste buds...like they have something to PROVE. This one has nothing to prove.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden-amber color with a slight white head. Aroma is very present, grapefruit/citrus and hops. Flavor is a very fruity, with tart hops and some grapefruit notes. Maximus finishes with a banana flavor and a hoppy aftertaste. One of the fruitiest IPAs Ive had, and I mean that in a good way. This is a very complex brew, something Id recommend without hesitation.

Bottle. Pours a light amber with a nice fluffy head, decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and citrus hops. Very citrusy start, has a little more malt sweetness in the middle than I am used to for an IIPA, but it finishes with a nice bit of hoppy dryness. This is a very solid beer, but not quite a Double in my opinion, sort of bigger than an IPA but not big enough to be a Double/Imperial. Semantics of IPA-IIPA aside, it is very enjoyable indeed, growing on me more as I work my way through the 22oz bottle. I see many more in my future.
