COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

Solid iipa... This beer is at least a step to a step and a half above most iipas. It is solid everywhere...it could use a bit more hop aroma up front but is filled with strong hop flavors and that sweet bitterness doubles are known for. The only thing hopslam beats this on is aroma up front...every other round Maximus wins..plus this baby is 22 oz for $5.99!lagunitas loves the American people and its easy to get! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from systembolaget. An awesome double IPA. Powerful, full of flavour, bitterness verging on aggressive but remaining intact with the drink and a fibrous golden colour. Yum.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2017 Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours cloudy bronze with a little white head. The aroma features strong citrusy fruitiness with pine and a touch caramel; very hoppy but a hint of maltiness appears as well. Taste is light sweet initially, later medium to heavily bitter. Caramel and toffee flavoured maltiness gives way to hoppiness that displays both citrusy and piney notes. Potent but fairly balanced. The palate is medium to heavily bodied and smooth, low to average in carbonation. Very tasty.

Bottle. Clear amber in color with a thick whitish head. Ripe fruity and sweet notes in aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. Sweetish fruity taste, some bitters though save it, although its quite heavy to drink.

From a 355ml bottle on 14/2/2017. Pours a clear medium golden with a small head. The nose is very malt with lots of caramel and some resiny hops. Flavour wise, its sweet and malty up front - more caramel, some toffee, and bread. The hops are firm, with lots of resin and pine, providing nice balance, and theres the barest hint of booze at the back. The texture is a bit syrupy and the carbonation is soft. Very enjoyable indeed.

Aromas heavy on the hops - grapefruit, pine, spruce. Some bread and sweetness from the malt. Color is a clear moderately light amber, a bit more toward the orange. Head is average size and offwhite. Taste is pretty bitter and just a touch sweet. Body is medium; texture slightly slightly oily; carbonation a bit on the lively side and the finish is long and bitter but with some malt sweetness also. Overall this is a pretty good IPA; the hops are strong with several aromas. There is also enough malt presence to provide reasonable balance.

Bottle. Orangey Amber in colour. Very Hoppy; piney oily resinous and spicy hops. Fruity; bitter citrus grapefruit and lemon. Malty backbone; sweet malts, caramel. Slightly salty. Nice hop/fruit/malt balance. Initially sweet then bitter hoppy citrus fruity throughout. Long dry hop bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable. (2010-10)
