COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

6 pack from Food City. I am so happy Lagunitas has come to my hometown. There is finally somewhat of a variety of good beer from which to choose. Im surprised Ive never had this before, I wasnt expecting much but a standard, solid pale ale. This one actually goes a little beyond. The hops are very assertive, becoming the centerpiece with a tasty and clean bite. Of course its on the dank side with strong herbage, a little ammonia and citrus. The malts are almost doughy which gives this a good dry finish. Everything is very clean. Ill be going back and forth between this and their IPA.

Bottle, 33cl - Clear golden beer with a small head. Aroma is malty with notes of oysters, hay, bread, citrus, peaches and some corn. Flavor is malty with notes of citrus, peaches as well as some floral notes. Thinking I may have received a bad batch because the DMS is pretty apparent in the bottle that I have.

BB 2013.06.19, sampled on September 18, 2012.
Clear deep golden color with hints of copper in it, big lasting white head. Sweet, caramel, hoppy, fruity, citrus scent. Malty, sweet, caramel, herbal, dry, bitter, hoppy taste.
The dry high to very high perceived bitterness dont match the malt that much for my taste, would like the malt and sweet caramel to come through more in balance to the bitterness, as they do in the scent.
Medium mouthfeel, high bitterness. Sort of a bitter, dry and mineral aftertaste.
Not bad at all, just me being sort of sensitive to hoppy/bitter beers with low malt back bone that makes it less of great for me personally at the moment.

(Bottle) Pours light hazy golden with an off-white head. The aroma holds citrus (mostly grapefruit) and pine up front with undertones of black currant, tart apricots/tart yellow fruit, spices, light bread, crackers and light honey. Quite subtle on the nose. The flavour is light sweet, medium to heavily bitter and light acidic with notes of citrus, pine, wood, resin, bitter herbs, grass, bread and crackers. The mouthfeel is clean and tiny astringent from the hops with light to medium carbonation. Lingering and aggressive, grapefruity and resinous finish. Light bodied.
