This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2015 Clear copper-gold with a pillowy medium lasting white head. Some good lacing. Nose is balanced hops and malt, sweaty yeast, some caramel, fruit and citrus. Quite bitter in the middle and finish with a good balance of malt backbone. Soft carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Nicely balanced.

While cooking my delicious salmon soup. Interesting to try right after another pale ale; S:t eriks. This one is better at everything except the head. More hops, still got that light colour though. Guess its the pale part. Better more full mouth-feel. I could buy this again and it does not cost so much more than the s:t erik although its from America. Slightly less bitterness but a bit more sweet tones. More balanced. Fruity. Still prefer the rawness of Ipas and Iipas more. Just a different style.

Nice pale ale. Very very very much citrus in both aroma but especially in flavor. Would have enjoyed it even more with more bitterness at the end.

Gul orange frg, mycket lite skum. Doftar citrus, lakrits, grs och lite jord. God men tunn smak som tyvrr snabbt frsvinner. Grape, tr, omogen frukt, bra beska.

Bottle. Dark golden or light amber, off-white head. Nice hop aroma with peaches and pine, floral. Taste: caramel and light licorice, pine, resin, lemon, not a high bitterness, finish is light dry. Medium-bodied. Nice and drinkable, I have already had a few more bottles since writing down these notes in October.

Bottle 355 ml. Pourd clear golden in color with a whitish head. Hops, fruits, more citrus in aroma. Flavour hoppy and citrus, but also some cardboard which wasnt that nice. Perhaps a bit old bottle.

En pale Ale som domineras av en behaglig beska och en fin rund sötma. Beskan ligger mellan kaviar och grape. Blommigt och välhumlat, riktigt trevligt iaf. Mycket smak men ändå en lite brittisk känsla. 4

6 pack from Food City. I am so happy Lagunitas has come to my hometown. There is finally somewhat of a variety of good beer from which to choose. Im surprised Ive never had this before, I wasnt expecting much but a standard, solid pale ale. This one actually goes a little beyond. The hops are very assertive, becoming the centerpiece with a tasty and clean bite. Of course its on the dank side with strong herbage, a little ammonia and citrus. The malts are almost doughy which gives this a good dry finish. Everything is very clean. Ill be going back and forth between this and their IPA.
