COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

Pours clear gold with a frothy white head. Nose of grapefruit, lemon, spicy pine, and caramel. Taste of grapefruit, earthy hops, pine, slight tropical fruit, and bread. Slightly resinous bitter finish. Medium bodied and smooth. An excellent pale with fresh bold hop character.

12 oz bottle from Trader Joe's. New Dogtown PA ives up to expectations for the local heavyweight in 'craft' brewing. Lagunitas didn't produce the leading IPA by chance, and this beer is another solid example of their skill. Nice balance between tart citrus/piney hops and light malt. My favorite pale ale will always be Sierra Nevada, but it's nice to sample a different take on the West Coast style every now and then.

355 ml, bottle conditioned. Quite clear, light golden amber, thick white head, lively carbonation. Aroma is citrusy and fruity, tropical notes. Mouthfeel is sharp, bitter and dry, nicely carbonated. Taste is like a stronger version of the aroma, just delicious!! The best Lagunitas beer I’ve had so far, it’s even better than the Maximus.

Clear gold with a big pillowy head. Not much aroma. Taste is beer. Really don’t know how to rate this when there are no distinguishing characteristics at all. I give it a 7/10.
