Hopmaestro (1719) - Örebro, SWEDEN - NOV 12, 2015
Aroma is caramelly sweet with brown sugar and plums. A sting from lemon zest and sweet orange. Taste is sweet toffee and quite malty but with a honey touch. Overripe apricots and citrus oils with a touch of peach brandy. Great stuff.

HopsandBolts (258) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 30, 2015
650 ml bottle from Burlington VT.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy brown redish colour with just over a finger of tan head. Short retention and considerable lacing.

Aroma: Malted milk.

Flavours: Malted milk, sweet bready malts, cereal, toffee, hazel nuts, some dark fruit like dates and figs, hint of orange marmalade on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Thicker and smooth but with a bit of a bitter sharp finish.

Overall: The malted milk flavour really comes out strong. Nice secondary flavours of dark fruit and orange marmalade added a nice touch.

Pours a deep copper to almost light brown with an off white head. Nice tart aroma of fruits and spices. Nice body that drinks very smooth. Taste is semi-sweet, somewhat tart fruit. High alcohol content is masked very well by the fruit flavors. Enjoyable.

Tasted at Kansas City Beerfest at Union Station October, 2015. I had so many that this rating might be a bit off. ;)

Aroma of roast malt and rootbeer, lemon, smells like crushed sasparilla leaves. White head and thick lace curtains, clear copper with plenty of carbonation. Taste is like red roast malt, rootbeer, lemon zest. Palate is nearly perfect, just a bit oily - thick, bubbly. Overall, very very good, no, great barleywine.

2015 Bottle. Wanted to sit this, but was too anxious to give it a shot. Nice, smooth barleywine heavy on the caramel malt. Toffee is very upfront as well. Good, clean, and smooth if this is what you're wanting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

GnarlyWine is an American style take on the Barleywine and West Coast style beer in general. It pours a beautiful mahogany with off-white suds. Somehow, the malty richness, hoppy bitterness, and boozy influence all manage to be over-the-top at once. It’s definitely an aggressive, hop-forward approach to the style, yet all the extremes ultimately result in something that’s refined and memorable. My kind of Barleywine, for sure.

HuskerTan (2338) - Ravenna, Nebraska, USA - OCT 17, 2015
Draft. A- Jerky, malty, caramel, burnt sugars. A- Mahogany color, clear liquid, tan head. T- Bitter, caramel, burnt sugar, malty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Pretty bitter but what else would you expect from Lagunitas. Still remained smooth nonetheless. Would have liked some more dark fruits though.
