keanex (1799) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - APR 2, 2014
Bottled February 29, 2014.
Appearance: The body is a perfectly clear golden amber hued with a tall and dense light tan head rising on the pour and staying for quite a bit. When it finally settles there’s an opaque coating with a few big bubbles on the edges.
Aroma: The aroma is fruity, hinting at pineapple and mango with a floral presence and a grapefruit bitterness. The malts are shy, perhaps a hint of nuttiness and caramel, but mostly hops in the aroma.
Taste: This is a clean imperial IPA, balanced bitterness with a bitter orange/pink grapefruit overlying flavor. The malt base is generic malt sweetness, hints of nuttiness mostly towards the back. The finish lingers with a splash of malty sweetness and grapefruit.
Palate: Crisp bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: This is a solid imperial IPA and a great value in the land of bombers. I enjoy this for the balance and drinkability it has, even if nothing really jumps out.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2017 12 ounce bottle. Pours amber, nice head and carbonation. For such a high IBU count, surprisingly drinkable. Used to drink this one in bombers but thankfully are now selling it in 6 packs. A nice hop loaded beer that could be enjoyed more than once on a Sunday afternoon.

Pours an orange color, well maybe amber. About one finger thick white head. Good retention and rather excellent lacing.

Aroma is juicy. Lots of citrus, tropical fruit. Malty.

Taste is sweet and hoppy bitter. Citrus, peach, a little grapefruit. Bitter. Malty.

Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied. Sweet and hoppy. Bitter. Easy drinking.

Overall, this is very good. Very malty, very hoppy. I’d buy this again, and I would recommend it.

6/25/17 (Chicago). 12 oz bottle poured into standard pint glass. Blonde clear pour, minimal white head or lacing, mild carbonation. Sweet pine, orange, malt and hops aroma. Very pleasant bitter taste, balanced with the sweet orange pine taste. Strong mouth presence, firm feel, nice drinking. Overall very good beer, glad I picked up a six pack!

Bottle@William K, Kurvi. Slighty cloudy golden color, white head. Rich, sweet hoppy aroma. Aromatic hop flavor with sticky malts, hints of alcohol that linger in the finish. Full body, medium carbonation. Nice.

Aroma is caramel, piney, earthy. Taste is bitter, sweet, and piney. Texture is on the thin side for an imperial IPA. Brew has a great bitter finish to satisfy hop cravings. Easy to drink despite being 8% abv. Great price also.

I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. Definitely would drink this again, nice and delicious taste on a hoppy beer.

Pours dark gold with a fine white head. Aroma is citrus and dank hops. Flavour is very full and richly bitter. Finish is also full and roundly bitter.
