AKA Holiday Ale
AKA Holiday Leftover Ale
AKA Brown Sugar Substitute

This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 8% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

From me, for an IPA to score this high is unprecedented. Not a big IPA fan usually do to the fact that the big name IPAs are too tart or sour. This IPA is perfectly balanced, giving it good grapefruit tartness, but no bitter beer face pucker at the end. Great fruity aroma without sweetness. Really nice break from the stouts that flood the market in winter.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2017 Sabor, aroma y contenido de alcohol balanceado para una IPA doble. Sin duda de lo mejor que hay. De lujo!!

Erg goed! Mooi schuim in het begin. Uit fles. Mooi flesje trouwens. Geur en smaak erg goed. Deze zou ik vaker willen drinken.

(Lagunitas Sucks) Tap at Mout beer festival. Bright orange colour on the body, clear, tall and thick white head on top. Aroma of grapefruit, passionfruit, citrus. Taste of citru, grapefruit, caramel malts, oranges, pretty hoppy. Medium body. Nice.

Piacevole cereale, fieno, legnoso, maltoso, mieloso. Caramello gradevole, erba, poi tanto altro che varia al variare della temperatura. Buona, discretamente complessa. Imbarazzante la bevibilità per 8 gradi. Finale medio-lungo, secco e piacevole.

bottle from lcbo. Nutty aroma, caramelized sugars and piney/evergreen hop notes with a boozy background. clear golden with small short lasting head, nice lacing. sweet malt up front with evergreen and bitter finish. medium mouthfeel. overall a little boozy, not bad but not something i would pick up again.

Bottle pours clear deep golden, with small white head. Aroma real hoppy, fruity and grassy, nice. Taste with clear bitterness and light sweetness.. Rather soft carbonation, but full body. Nice IPA, wouldn’t have noticed the 8 ABV.

Bottle. It pours mostly clear golden with a creamy white head. The aroma is biscuit malty and sweet fruity hoppy. Some marmalade notes. The flavor is sweet malty with sweet fruity hoppy notes. Biscuit, resin and crackers notes.

From a 355 ml bottle poured in to a Snifter. Slightly hazy golden colour with a creamy off- white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, pines, caramel malts, honey, sugars, resin and toasted notes. Taste is bitter. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with resin, rich malts and caramel malts. A classical American IIPA.

Lemon and honey aroma in a golden pour. Hop forward balance with big sweet citrus body and sustained bitter finish. A big beer that goes down way too easy.
