We brewed this especially bitter ale in dedication to all the worlds would-be astronauts, in remembrance of the 2005 St. Patricks Day Massacre on the Brewery Party Grounds and also in joyous celebration of our 20-day suspension that following January. Do the crime. Do the time. Get the bragging rights. Cheers!

Bottle from Stone in Asagaya. Pours a clear copper with a small head that lingers for a bit then dissipates. Aromas of citrus, pine, peach and wood. Taste is more of the same with good bitterness coming through. Lots of sweetness on the palate, but finishes bitter. Not my favorite style, but solid.

Pours a medium amber with strong citrus fruit on the nose. Strong initial bitter bite that intensifies on the back end with a very strong alcohol presence. I can taste some sweet malt, citrus & maybe a little syrup along with the bittering & flavoring hops. Intense & very well done.

Bottle into snifter. Pours a clearish amber colour with a little off white head that disappears. Aroma is jammy fruit with a little spiciness. Taste is jammy fruit with some alcohol. This is a very nice beer.

DATE TASTED: August 20, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: La fin du Monde... OCCASION: school prep wok--with The Desolation of Smaug... APPEARANCE: dark, amber brown body that is dense and imposing; head is off-white and creamy; lacing is impeccably dense and substantial... AROMA: a mellow suggestion of citrus, with a wet, biscuity malt balancing the promise nicely; flowery hints end the array ... PALATE: a coating, thick-as-molasses, warms the throat with a smooth, fulfilling consistency that could not further belie the 9.3 % ABV contained within it... TASTE: immediate impressions of a brown ale, dry, nutty as almonds or pecans, sugar, darker citrus, prunes, sweet and biscuit malts, and lighter citrus--mango and grapefruit, mostly... a strong, full-bodied, ale worthy of a snifter... OVERALL: High hopes for this one have not gone unmet--a powerful American answer to the Belgian and English strong ales that I so enjoy... the balance in its maltiness suggests a seasonal indeed, but this beer can thrive in any season that requires a beer of strength... by the second pint, a tingle is assured in the toes, with its strength surging...how this beer begs for a third bottle! what a blessing to live in a time when beer of this kind is available year round and across the country... I have little clue as to the meaning behind the name, but what a beautiful, bold, rewarding beer...

Deep gold to mid-copper in color with thin white head, decent lacing, small protein/other chunks in a very small amount that quickly settled. Very C-hop centric but a little fruity on the nose with malt and almost maple syrup nose. Wonderfully citrus forward flavor, malty backbone, hay, lightly toasty. Wonderful palate/mouthfeel. Overall surprisingly drinkable for a 9+% hoppy ale. Very pleasantly surprised by this as Ive had strike-outs with most Lagunitus brews tasted in MS. Just a wonderful beer, glad I picked it up.

On tap at TK as 10.5 pour. Looks like a Yuengling with a thin head. Then so much vanilla and caramel. Nose hints of roasted malts. Slight bitterness hops on the finish but oh so yummy.

Golden copper in color with a wonderfully thick and creamy head. The bitterness is at the forefront but it finishes sweet and smooth. It's not balanced, each component is purposefully opposed to the other but the outcome is delicious!
