We brewed this especially bitter ale in dedication to all the worlds would-be astronauts, in remembrance of the 2005 St. Patricks Day Massacre on the Brewery Party Grounds and also in joyous celebration of our 20-day suspension that following January. Do the crime. Do the time. Get the bragging rights. Cheers!

This is the future of beer. At least for people like me who need things that grab you by the neck and wrestle you to the ground and make you cry uncle. The future of beer includes a mass funeral for the generic "IPA"s that every brewery feels obliged to half-heartedly cook up so that guys in polo shirts or shirts with slogans on them might find adventurous, but are still cheap swill. The future of beer includes this one, and thats why my fridge is filled with anything I can get my hands on that is massive in terms of malt, hops, yeast, fruit, alcohol - - and especially all-of-the-above. Thats why my fridge will include this one, till it gets crowded out by things more apocalyptic.

Bottle. Clear brown with an inch of cream head that fades to a cm. Aroma of bread crusts, boiled grapefruit, bottled cherries. Not much body, moderate carbonation. Malty but not all that sweet, bitterness is highish and certainly thunders through. Balance is more pleasing after a time - perhaps thats the booze, although its not very overt for close to 10%. More fruity (cherries, mixed peel) than bready. Pine and some herbal notes at the end. Strange beer that grew on me - a bit old fashioned bottled English strong ale complete with boiled notes but still very American.

Bottle poured into a globe glass. Copper color with a sudsy of white head and lots of visible carbonation. Aroma is pine resin, lemon, and malt. Initial taste is citrus, pine, and a strong malt backbone. Aftertaste is a pleasant hop bitterness. Smooth palate with just the right amount of carbonation. As bitter as this was built up to be, I dont get that. Its definitely a big beer and not for the light at heart but its no double IPA.

Its like having an IPA without the fun of the IPA. IPAs can really showcase the floral nature of the hop and it can be really interesting. All this seems to yield is just the bitterness without showcasing anything interesting. Might try again, but will likely avoid.

12oz bottle. Tropical fruit hops aroma. A lot of grapefruit flavour upfront with a nice malt hops finish. Great balance medium body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer has a rich amber pour with a light tan / off white head. Aroma is malty. Body is sweet with an alcoholic bite throughout. Lots of malts, not too roasted, mostly caramel. Pretty nice.

Bottle. Pours clear copper-red with large foamy off-white head, faint caramel aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter slightly salty caramel taste with a bit of an alcohol burn at the end, thin body, medium bitter finish with throat burning alcohol effect at the end. A bit caustic but nice.

Ahhh, another Lagunitas classic, and this one comes with a fairly absurd 9.7ish ABV. Nice bright cloudy amber red color. Taste is almost like Lagunitas IPA crossed with a barleywine; it is very heavy, thick, and malty, but the alcohol is fairly well hidden tastewise (though you wont be able to hide how drunk you might get after a couple of these). This is one that I always look forward to checking out when it seasonally rolls around. Not one of my very favorites from Lagunitas, but since they are probably my fave brewery, it is still really good nonetheless. Good for when youre wearing your kigurumi cause it is insanely cold out and you are dreading daylight savings cause youre gonna lose an hour.
