Pours brown-red with a quick off-white head. Nose is surprisingly hoppy for a brown, with touches of sugar, bread, and yeast. Fairly respectable hop bitterness continues into the flavor, which really plays out as an American Strong Ale. Malt it big, slightly syrupy, and balances the bitterness well. Alcohol slightly present but does not detract. Good stuff.

Nice giant brown ale, big on dark malt goodness, possibly even bigger on the piney, resinous hops. Giant doses of chocolate-laced caramel are backed up by the slightest hint of Lagunitas orange marmalade hops, underscored by a slight red apple yeastiness that helps balance out the clingy, IBU-flinging finish. Modest notes of dried apricot and raisin lie way, way underneath all the crazy malting, but mostly this beer’s like sipping a candybar pinecone milkshake. Okay, not really, but it’s still pretty damn good.

Klar, brun, beiget skum. Doft: Torkad frukt, syrligt, metall, bränt socker, coca-cola.

Riktigt trevlig!

The aroma starts leathery and a touch burnt, but quickly reveals a potent burnt sugar. It’s a deep brown and red looking body, topped by a soft foamy, tan head. The palate is mostly sweet, balanced by a roasted bitterness with mostly caramel, chocolate, and a roasted coffee quality on the tongue with a bit of herbal and a dry finish.

This is fantastic. This is definitely a big ol imperial brown ale. It’s an absolute malt and coffee bomb and it’s 100% delicious. It’s has a huge brown sugar aroma which is amazing, and a nice roasty maltiness that just dominates. It’s super sweet, super tasty and just an overall malt bomb, but in a good way. It’s how I would want malt to be presented in a beer. I love how lagunitas pumps out these beers that are so delicious, but so reasonably priced. It blows my mind. Just another testament to how awesome they are. Cheers! Pick up this malt monster now.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Malty and hoppy smell, with wort and caramel. Similar taste. Nice.

Mørk brun klar med høyt beige skum. Lukter nøtter, brent karamell og humlelukt mot grapefrukt. Balansert, kjenner malten og humlen godt. Grapefrukt, nøtter, brent karamell og sitrus. Middels lang.
